MINNEAPOLIS, Aug 29, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The selection of Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain's vice presidential running mate unites the Republican Party and energizes its conservative base, Richard A. Viguerie said.
"McCain has chosen to balance his ticket with a principled conservative. Governor Palin's life story is one of sticking to principle. She is living proof that a person can take on the corrupt political establishment - including corrupt leaders in her own party - and achieve great things," he said.
Viguerie, the Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, added: "There's an old expression in politics: Go along to get along. Not this time. The selection of Sarah Palin is one big kick-in-the-pants to the corrupt establishment in both parties.
"Congratulations to John McCain for hearing and responding to conservatives. Conservatives, the base of the party, have been listless. But, now, nearly all will work enthusiastically for the McCain-Palin ticket. In fact, this is the most enthusiastic conservatives have been since the era for Ronald Reagan."

Richard Viguerie may be one of THE most difficult conservatives to appease. The fact that he is endorsing the selection of Palin, enthusiastically, is something that McCain probably had not expected.
If Palin spends her time not just talking about 'reform', but articulating the conservative cause, his enthusiasm will be rewarded.
Looks like Palin is a better choice than even McCain thought she’d be, based on the response from even unexpected quarters.
Imagine how enraged Hillary is! Way to go, McCain!!! Sarah Palin isn’t just a home run, she’s a grand slam.
And Obama’s position on corruption in his own party is?
And Obama’s history of opposing corruption in his own party is?
And where exactly did the hundred million go?
And what happened to the buildings that were supposed to be re-habbed?
Every one of you are outright deluded.
This election will be a blowout of historic proportions and we are not going to be the winners.
I’ll take that bet. Duncan Donuts, day after the election. I’m buying.
Well on almost every level this was a brilliant pic. The dead cat convention bounce and Barry’s wooden uninspired telepromter reading the Barakopolis to the throngs of hopeless, helpless and useless mouth breathers did nothing to help his electability and McCain pikcing a conservative woke the sleeping giant up. There maybe some false vaciliations in the polls but McCain is the next prez, it’s over stick a fork in Barry. I am going to love watching his cadre of smug, condescending toadies on election night as the losses mount.
I think he’ll really firm things up if Romney is indicated for Treasury and perhaps even Hunter for Defense. Rudy as AG and the Huckster preparing his tree-rat dishes should round things out.
Does this mean you’ll stop trashing McCain, Mr. V?
I don’t want to see Rudy ANYWHERE near the McCain administration (he would better serve a purpose by running against Cuomo in the next gubernatorial election), but have a feeling that he will be AG. I also see Lieberman serving as UN Ambassador.
Nonsense. Obama is such thin gruel that only an idiot could not beat him and his running mate - a man that has all the charm of John Kerry, without the hair. McCain may be an idiot, but based on his ads and selection of VP, he is obviously surrounded by some pretty shrewd advisers.
I am still writing in Hunter for prez, because he is the only Reaganite. But the rank and file conservatives are already showing an enthusiasm that was missing a few short hours ago.
Just walking down the street at lunch, here in the heart of Blue, Blue Maryland people were talking about Sarah Palin. Not Barak. Sarah.
She looked so comfortable and confident and happy up there. Jeeze, she made Grumpy McCain smile like a proud uncle or something. It was a thing of beauty.
Somewhere, Ronaldus Magnus is smiling as only he could.
His heiress has arrived.
Haven’t seen Richard Viguerie this thrilled since Clinton was impeached.
Conservative pro-lifers and Evangelicals now have a reason to vote for McCain. Palin is a good choice.
I can’t believe the dims are attacking her on her experience! One dim talking head said that the o had actually done some things.
You mean will I stop telling the absolute truth about McCain? No. I’m not even voting for him.
However, I will continue to “help” him by ensuring his communist opponent is exposed as the worthless radical that he is.
I can hardly wait for poll numbers after this weekend and before the RNCC and it’s bounce.
My question was to Viguerie.
I was very surprised by his enthusiasm. And franky, by McCain picking her.
