Democrat Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida (and Maryland) tonight smeared Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin as a Nazi sympathizer sympathizer.
Wexler, who represents a district with a significant Jewish population, threw out the vile charge after a 1999 Associated Press article reported Palin was seen wearing a Pat Buchanan for president button on a visit by Buchanan to Wasilla, Alaska when she was mayor.
Ben Smith at the Politico published Wexler's statement:
John McCain's decision to select a vice presidential running mate that endorsed Pat Buchanan for President in 2000 is a direct affront to all Jewish Americans. Pat Buchanan is a Nazi sympathizer with a uniquely atrocious record on Israel, even going as far as to denounce bringing former Nazi soldiers to justice and praising Adolf Hilter for his "great courage."
At a time when standing up for Israel's right to self-defense has never been more critical, John McCain has failed his first test of leadership and judgment by selecting a running mate who has aligned herself with a leading anti-Israel voice in American politics. It is frightening that John McCain would select someone one heartbeat away from the presidency who supported a man who embodies vitriolic anti-Israel sentiments.
Smith reports Palin denied at the time endorsing Buchanan:
She promptly responded to the story in a letter to the editor, that "the article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla. As mayor, I will welcome all the candidates in Wasilla."
Smith adds that the AP reported Palin was "an official of Steve Forbes' campaign that cycle."
Tonight on Hardball, Buchanan said Palin "brigadier for me" in 1996 and that Palin and her husband attended a fundraiser for him.
Smith notes that it doesn't appear Palin donated to Buchanan's campaigns.
The left is going to milk this for all it's worth. Wexler is one of the nastiest pieces of work in the Democratic party. His smear of Palin as a Nazi sympathizer sympathizer is par for the course.
What this makes the Democratic party's own cable news channel, MSNBC, which pays Buchanan to offer his opinions on a daily basis, Wexler doesn't say. Maybe he'll ask Obama to boycott MSNBC like he boycott's Fox.
Wexler represents northern Broward and southern Palm Beach County, with the center of the district being Boca Raton. As I’ve said several times on this site, he has been my parents congressman for several years, and even had an office next to my father’s before the latter’s retirement.
Wexler is not a patriot. He aims to destroy and ruin this country. He is lower than scum.
I hope every rational Democrat in this country, male or female, is looking at the disgusting behavior of the loons their party has been taken over by, and wondering why in the world they are still supporting it.
You would be bitter and nasty to if God gave you a hog’s nose.
I believe he skipped the Double Dog Dare and went straight to the dreaded Triple Dog Dare.
In liberalspeak republican means nazi. Kind of makes Godwin’s Law a moot point doesn’t it?
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction. Barack Obama in The Audacity of Hope
Can you run that by one more time, lol...oh, nevermind.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sorry, I have to get a couple of cracks in every night. LOL.
People are starting to catch it.
Getting back channel queries.
I send them to Freeper Beckwith’s site:
Oh, let him whine. She would not get ten Jewish votes anyway. They despise her because she is a believing Christian. Secular Jews are among the most rabid bigots in America—witness Schumer’s contemptuous sneer about the “Hail Mary”. That is no accident.
We need some close polling place scrutiny with Wexler’s constituents. There is evidence that some vote twice, once in Florida, once absentee in Brooklyn. And a few do the trifecta, also voting absentee from Israel. Wexler himself apparently has multiple residences. One person, one vote.
If Dueling were still legal.....obnoxious bastards like Wexler would be forced to be more circumspect in his comments....
Wexler has proven to be one of the most despicable garbage mouth a$$holes in congress.
His district ought to throw his ass out, since it was recently discovered he didn’t even own a residence in Florida and avoided Maryland taxes by claiming his permanent residence was in Florida..
It was his inlaws home in a “seniors neighborhood” that wouldn’t have allowed Wexler to live their with his children..... A real crook.....and tax evader....
NOW, he’s on the hook for a lot of taxes and I hope, criminal charges....
But — he’s a rat, and the laws don’t apply to them..
Then Wexler won’t mind if we point out that B.O. got his political start in the home of an ADMITTED DOMESTIC TERRORIST!!!
rats are coming out of the basement
Actually they’re leaving the Dims ship, which is sinking! (I almost put a “t” in there by mistake!)
Funny. Can we smear all the senate democrats as being Klu Klux Klan sympathizers because of “Sheets” Byrd never being censured or booted out? Can we smear them all as women-killers because Kennedy is still there?
They must really have nothing of substance to go for because the nazi card has already been played in the first 12 hours after she was selected to be VP.
What does Wexler say about Obama’s spiritual mentor extolling Louis Farrakahn?
Pat isn’t Adolph. The old libel will not work.
Yeah, and for his reward he can live wherever he damn pleases.
Geez . The Nazi label is slapped on just about everybody these days isn’t it. I am sick of the left calling anyone they do not like a Nazi.
What a pathetic excuse for human excrement. I guess for Wex then, Obami’s 20 years in a Church where his inspirational pastor likes to give awards to Farakhan the black muslim anti-Semite, would qualify Obami to be the second coming of Adolf himself.
Last I heard you didn't live in the district you represent in Congress... if I was a constituent I'd demand more.
