I thought the same thing. DS is more common in mothers over 40.

With all due respect you know your family and your situation and your environment...you don't know hers. And let's let God do the judging on her Christianity, k?

I believe it was Edwards during the debate too, but I kinda remember Kerry mentioning something about it later in a speech or comment or something, but I could be wrong, that was a long time ago.

You are a Christian? Passing judgement are we? You do not know what capacity Gov. Palin has to be a mother to her child do you? If what you are saying is true, why not sugggest that she not only refuse the offer to be VP, but resign as from her office in Alaska too. Perhaps she should just shack up in a house with her chldren and let her husband support the family eh?

It will, without question, be a challenge for her and her whole family to deal with the campaign and with the obligations and pressures of the office of the Vice President of the United States of America. Ae you implying that because she’s a woman that she’s not up to the task?

I would suggest you focus on doing what’s best for your family and your situation, and show that same respect for the Palin family.

What are they using as their “evidence” that the daughter was pregnant? Was she kept in a cave for 6 months?

These are the people who think they should be running the country.

This story should be made public in every way possible.

I have good friends who have a 40 year old Downs Syndrome son. They have nurtured him along with all their other children, of which 5 are teachers/educators (the other two successful businessmen) and both of them have had successful careers. I know there are many things that can and do happen with these special children that require special talents. I firmly believe God allows only special people to have these special children. I praise you and your family for your dedication to your child. My thought on Gov Palin’s situation is that maybe, just maybe, God put her in this position to help other people realize just how abhorrent abortion is and that all life is indeed precious to Him. God bless you and yours.

I sincerely hope the KOScum do try to make a point of pushing this tinfoil hattery, I really, really do.

They are already known by the right as a gaggle of fools, something like this will go a long way towards showing the not totally insane mothers on the left just how idiotic your average KOScumbag is. With the potential to push even more PUMA types into the Palin Camp.

Come on Moulitsas, rev the engine and dump the clutch, lets see what kind of black mark you can lay down against yourself and your fellow KOookS.

“Ae you implying that because she’s a woman that she’s not up to the task?”

I am suggesting that at the age of this child, she hasn’t a clue what she needs to do. She should have refused the offer of the VP slot.

“I would suggest you focus on doing what’s best for your family and your situation”

As I have been doing for very, very many years now.

“...and show that same respect for the Palin family.”

The Palin family has made a very big mistake because they don’t appreciate the situation they are in. Pointing that out is hardly disrespectful.

My friend, I can't imagine the struggle you have had. At the same time, it's not really fair to extrapolate your experiences onto Mrs. Palin. Her husband may well be willing, ready, and able to take up her slack. If he's okay with that, who are we to question their decision?

Your path in life is not hers.

“What are they using as their “evidence” that the daughter was pregnant? Was she kept in a cave for 6 months?”

Relatives is what the Palin’s are saying. And she was removed from school and not enrolled anywhere else for the duration of the pregnancy.

This is why I think Palin needs to get out in front of this, because addressing it after its already turned into an internet monster will look a lot like dishonest damage control.

If the first people here about Bristol’s circumstances, whatever they were during the pregnancy, from Sarah rather than the rumor machine, then it’s the rumor-mongers that are ‘re-framing’ the story, rather than Palin.

“This business about the little fellow with Down Syndrome may well become a problem for Gov. Palin and Sen. McCain, the Daily Kos garbage notwithstanding. As the father of a now 25 year old with Down Syndrome, I must say that Gov Palin is deluding herself if she thinks she can run for, let alone serve as, VP and be a good mother to a baby and youngster with mental retardation and the health challenges usually presented with it. She may not know it yet, but unless her plan is to “farm out” that baby, her life, the life of her husband and those or her other children have been profoundly changed by this birth...for the better I might add. Gov. Palin, however, seems to have rejected this gift of God in pursuit of her own ego. She’s no example of family values so far as I can see if her brand of Christianity tells her that what she is doing is right, then it is profoundly different from mine!”

OK, for starters, mental retardation is not necessarily a part of Down’s Syndrome, it's usually a result of the many health problems that accompany it. VP Palin will have the very best medical care available, and so will her children. Could still be a problem, but not as likely.

Having a Down’s child in the VP’s house will give Down’s Syndrome visibility like it has NEVER had before, which is likely to have good effects for all people with disabilities.

My son has Asperger’s Syndrome, so I have some experience in the caring for children with disability. Also two years as a special ed teacher.

I've decided not to address your attack on her religious beliefs, but you might want to go read your scriptures again, just in case you missed something about “cast the first stone.”

I love it.

The more the radicals hatred shines through the more repulsive they become. Middle America will look at the Palins and see a couple not so different from themselves God fearing, patriotic, self reliant Americans.

Trust me, it was John Kerry who made that remark at the presidential debate about Dick Chenney’s daughter to use it as a political tool against Bush.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call Palin 'innocent' ... she knew what she was getting into when she chose to enter public life.

What is going to be interesting is watching these fools fall all over themselves, bumbling. So far, I see Palin as strong, self-assured and the Nobama team's worst nightmare.

I predict she will hold her own. Nicely.

Quiz! Which pol took the time to visit wounded troops in Germany? Multiple choice

Who went to visit wounded troops in Germany?

Was it

A Senator Barack Obama ?
B Governor Palin ?
C Both, they are both America-loving politicians who appreciate the sacrafice of our troops?
D Neither...they're both got far better uses for their valuable time?

Answer.
...if you said A ...Barack Obama you would be wrong. During his Hate America World Tour last month, The One was too busy ...working out to visit our troops or the Pentagon blocked the visit or he was scared it would be seen as political or he was trying on togas for his acceptance speech ....depending on which version of Team Obama's story you believe.

So the correct answer was B Governor Palin who is seen here visiting the troops in Germany in 2007
