polar bear populations are declining in some areas, are stable in others, but are increasing in some parts. The total population in Canada, where two-thirds of the world's polar bears live, is estimated at 15,500.....
The world Population of Polar Bears is 22,000 to 25,000. 50 years ago the world Population of Polar Bears was about 5,000 to 8,000.
SUMMARY of: Movements and Population Dynamics of Polar Bears
Steven C. Amstrup
USGS circa 2002
The continuing growth in polar bear numbers, the continuing trend in proportion of dens on land, and perhaps changing freeze-up conditions in the last decade all may be influencing the distribution of denning efforts. The apparent increase in numbers of bears denning on land and the increased land area used for denning corroborates estimates, reported earlier, that suggested a continued increase in total numbers of polar bears throughout the study period. The distribution of maternal denning continues to be a fertile area for future research......

It is MY conclusion that Polar Bears have Thrived under the Executive Leadership of Governor Palin, and that I am glad to see those cute and cudley creatures do so well.
.
Thank You Gov. Palin for doing such a wonderful thing!
...then, they came for the douglas fir trees who had became infested with bark beatles and took out 4 million of them when the temperatures rose over a decade, but I wasn't a douglas fir tree so I did not care...
..then, they came for the environmentalists, but I was not an environmentalist so I did not care...
I’m in favor of everybody having a polar bear..........rug.
LOL...
Al Gore said the polar bears are drowning. Would he lie?
From what I recall, she's the mother of five well fed children. No need for pant suits for her.
That John McCain does have a good eye for women.
And talk about eyes. WOW!
I want a polar bear petting zoo for every Liberal.
Sierra Club — take note!
I thoughth “global warming” was killing all the polar bears.
Those damn Republicans are messing up everything AGAIN!
They are eating machines. They will eat just about anything, and lots of it.
People thought they need ice to survive. They don't, and never did. A couple of months of below freezing wheather, and these animals do fine.
I have seen them walking the sea shore and lake shores, scavanging, and in dumps. They really love rotten meat: whether its fish, fowel or a dead whale carcass. Nom, Nom, Nom!
And if there's none of that around, you and I will do in a pinch.
They have been known to corner humans by working in two somes and threesomes, chasing them into places of no ecape, like dead end ravines, out onto isthmuses, and up against cliff faces.
They will even wait beside an ice bound boat or ship, hoping that a human might take a walk, and sometimes they do to take a piss or a $hit. Many a sailor has been taken by polar bears on the ice, when they squat down to have a good one, unable to get their pants up in time to run. And the bears actually wait for that.Thats how wiley they are.Its the same with seal hunters.
Wiley as hell.
I have no fear of their extinction.
If you are walking outside Barrow and come across a Polar Bear with cubs and you are close enough to see the detail in the fur as in this picture without binoculars and you are further than ten feet from a big vehicle, protective cage or windowless concrete building perform the following:
1. bend over
2. stick your head between you legs
3. kiss your (censored) goodbye.
Agreed, and that's exactly what my post proposed.
Agreed.
