If the Dems want to play identity politics, there are a lot more women in America than blacks.

You can vote for the woman and make up for centuries of oppression and discrimination. You can still make history. You can assuage your guilt. And if you're a man, you can also avoid sleeping on the couch - LOL.

Dittos ... It actually blows the race issue right out of the race. The Gov Palin pick leads to the inescapable conclusion where it is conceivable that America will have a woman President within the next ten years.
A minority Marxist is still a Marxist.

Sorry...very, very GOOD article. I got distracted because my husband came in and I said, “I HAVE to read this to you!!!” Which I did. He asked me to forward it to his business email so he can pass it around. (He works for the State of NY) ;)

Seriously, great take. Blacks are what - like 15% of the population. Women are 50%+.
Palin puts the GOP in a very strong position to be the party who nominates the first woman for President and if elected, she will be the first woman President. This has to gall DEMS to no end. This is thinking very far ahead, but should she be elected President and have a minority VP, that could split the DEM stranglehold on the minority vote for the foreseeable future.
Can you say hoisted on your own petard?

Right on! An excellent article. Well done.

Lately, when someone asks me, an American of Southeast Asian origin (OK, a brown guy) why I am not supporting ‘a man of color’, I tell them that although race has something to do with it, it’s for a reason far beyond his or her understanding but well within my paygrade to make. It has something to do with human beings not yet born - whether they are black, white, brown, red, or yellow.

Has anyone noticed how little attention has been given to the fact that McCain adopted a baby “of color”? Moreover, the GOP truly had the most racially diverse cabinet in history!
