While Louisiana prepares for Hurricane Gustav, Dems gloat and guffaw

First, please read this e-mail from michellemalkin.com reader/commenter CantCureStupid, who is a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard. She asks for your thoughts and prayers as the people of his state ready for the storm:

Hi Michelle.

I’m a new member to the site and a big fan, and right now I’m experiencing a brief (and rare) moment of downtime. I am a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard, and we are up to our nostrils in preparations for Hurricane Gustav. There is a lot going on right now in south Louisiana, but mostly we are watching this monster bear down on us and hoping for the best. I wanted you to know, as a soldier who also had to suffer through the cluster that was Katrina, that we are 1000% better prepared (God Bless Bobby Jindal!!), and that while hoping for the best, we are completely prepared for the worst and ready to do what needs to be done to ensure the safety of the people of this state.

I am sure, as a fan of your site, that the vast majority of your fantastic commenters are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers. Most of us are very aware of how sick the rest of the nation must be to hear the namby-pamby cry baby stuff that still comes out of the New Orleans area three years after Katrina, but I would ask for prayer and support for my soldiers, who have nothing to do with politics and who show up and serve whenever called upon.

God Bless America and God Bless Louisiana!!!

New Orleans is under mandatory evacuation orders this morning. Here’s a disaster preparedness round-up from Glenn Reynolds. And Weather Nerd and hurricane blogger Brendan Loy is tracking the latest developments.

Per Gov. Bobby Jindal’s order at 4am this morning: “As directed by Governor Jindal, Louisiana State Police will initiate contraflow at 4:00 AM Sunday morning. For the first time in history, the entire Louisiana coastal population will be evacuated due to the impending threat of Hurricane Gustav.”

We know who won’t be praying for their success and safety: tolerant, peaceful liberals wishing the worst on Republicans in Gustav’s path and laughing about the possibility of grave destruction.

Exhibit A: Michael Moore (via Allah).

Exhibit B: Former DNC chair Don Fowler (via redstate diarist Absentee, who caught Fowler and Democrat Rep. John Spratt’s candid, malicious comments on a plane from Denver to Charlotte. Transcript via Ed Morrissey.

The hurricane’s going to hit New Orleans about the time they start. [Chuckle] The timing is — at least it appears now that it’ll be there Monday. That just demonstrates that God’s on our side. [Laughter] … Everything’s cool. God is not on your side, gloating sleazeballs.

Our Louisiana Army National Guard’s screen name says it all: Can’t Cure Stupid.

How to help with Gustav preparation and recovery efforts.

Yeah, this is terrible...just don’t look for it to get any coverage, maybe, beyond Fox.

All these things need to be out in the open and on the mainstream news media. Only FOX has the guts to put this on television.

The Kos smear about Palin’s child needs to be topic number one.

The best way to take on the cockroaches is to turn on the lights.

Drudge, newspapers, radio, everwhere. Letters to the Editors are nice also.

Nobody should be surprised considering the higher the military death count goes up in the WOT the happier the Rats are.

Between the craven gloating by two prominent Democrats, the vastly improved preparation under Bobby Jindal, and the lesson all the locals learned about early evacuation last time, I suspect that this story is going to help us rather than hurt us.

I predict that deaths will be an order of magnitude less than during Katrina, even if property damage is more severe.

Look for the mainstream media to ignore this, and for the story to turn to Global Warming Super-Hurricanes the morning afterwards.

Michael Moore: “Gustav is proof that there is a God in Heaven”

Actually that statement by itself is correct. Hurricanes are part of nature and God made all of creation. However God is the Master over all storms and he allows catastrophes to hit humankind. True winners overcome obstacles and shine when under the gun. Winners vs whiners.

The Dems may have a surprise if thanks to Gov. Jindal, better preparedness and fast action by the Bush administration the damage will be less than from Katrina. Of course Ray Nagin is still around to screw things up in New Orleans and seize Gustav as another opportunity to enrich himself and his cronies off federal aid.

Good thing for Louisanna they have Jindal now.

Are you kidding, he was elected to Congress in 2005 and was only elected to be governor in 2007. They're doomed, I tell you, doomed! /sarc

I can't wait to see the difference a bit of leadership makes.

Democrats and Obama want to destroy America and if a hurricane will do it, then they are happy with that.

“...Yeah, this is terrible...just don’t look for it to get any coverage, maybe, beyond Fox...”

I saw it on Fox this morning. Been getting read for Gustav, haven’t looked on several hours to see if was repeated.

Dems all seem to be angry, doom and gloom. They depress me! I don’t being around them.

I’m sorry but as outrageously hateful as their antics are, I am laughing at the same time.

First off - the rabid DEMS only discuss God when it’s convenient.

Secondly - they don’t think too highly of God to suggest that God would hit N.O. in an effort to soil the GOP party up in Minnesota. God can’t hit Minnesota?

So, following the Dems logic, God can’t get up to Minnesota so he will sacrifice innocent lives elsewhere to make a point about the GOP convention?

It’s really pathetic.

God bless the National Guards in all the steates! And God bless Michelle Malkin. Even after those thugs tried to bully her, I think they only ticked her off more.
