Palin's Pregnancy Problem
Washington Post ^ | 1 Sep 2008 | Sally Quinn

Posted on 09/01/2008 4:38:24 PM PDT by Mr Rogers

My first reaction was shock. Then anger. John McCain chose a running mate simply because she is a woman and one who appealed to the Republican's conservative evangelical base. Now, with news that Palin's 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant, McCain's pick may not even find support among "family values" voters...This may be a hard one for the Republican conservative family-values crowd to swallow. Of course, this can happen in any family. But it must certainly raise the question among the evangelical base about whether Sarah Palin has been enough of a hands-on mother.

Obama told America he believed in abortion (choice, he calls it) so his daughters wouldn’t be PUNISHED by the birth of a child out of wedlock. He obviously doesn’t believe that human beings start at conception....funny isn’t it that the sale of condoms are by the package,....wonder why if there isn’t a need there, Obamaman?????

I’m actually surprised Huckabee hasn’t chimed in yet to trash the Palin’s. This would be right up his alley.

Understand the Huckster. He is another Hitlery. He'd by happy to jump on the bandwagon however the reaction isn't really negative so he'll SHUT UP for a nice change. If everyone was appalled and shocked then he'd be right there in the mud with them. The Huckster is thinking ahead of what benefits HIM, as always.

Sally Quinn is just jealous because no one would even want to have a child with this old bag.

This out of wedlock conception presents an excellent opportunity to contrast between the Obama approach to out-of-wedlock birth and Sarah Palin’s approach

Obama says that an unwanted pregnancy would be a punishment for the mother. Given his views on abortion you can be certain he would advocate the killing of the child

Sarah Palin and other people look on life as worthy of respect and caring no matter what

Advantage: Sarah Palin

Evangelical women also will have to decide if they will vote against their conscience by voting to put the mother of young children in a job outside the home that will demand so much of her time and energy.

"vote against their conscience: ?

Evangelical women are going to vote against their conscience by voting for a mother of five, pro-life conservative, church going, God fearing women as opposed to voting for a pro death, Marxist with a buffoon as a VP pick ???

Sally, please stick to analyzing the your navel lint. You will sound much more logical

"...must certainly raise the question among the evangelical base...

Hummm, let me think...is it easier to get God's forgiveness for getting pregnant out of wedlock, or, just shoving a pair of scissors into the baby's skull as it's being born.

I've noticed the Ten Commandments saying, "Thou Shalt Not Kill"...but I never saw that one about "Thou Shalt Not Get Pregnant".

If the evangelicals pout about this one, then they deserve what they get as Pres/VP. It will be obvious that "forgiveness" is - in fact - not a Christian trait, at least not in the minds of those who will judge. Judge not, lest ye be judged.

My son and his wife are both in the Air Force and did not plan to have any children any time soon. BUT...
Along came their daughter last year and she is the joy of their lives and ours and could not imagine life without her.
We thank God that He knew better than all of us.

Is Quin barren?

She appears to be holding a grudge like most stuck up liberal feminist with no children usually do when it comes to commenting on real conservative feminist women who do have children.

I guess it’s jealousy. Sarah Palin had 5 kids and managed to become a VP candidate well they’re all still young.

Usually these liberal feminist have no children because it would be too burdensome on them to have two jobs at once. Seeing another women manage a family and career obviously makes them irate.

Ms. Quinn does not understand that forgiving and supporting a child who has made a mistake IS family values.

This is what happens when journalists look at conservatives the way anthropologist Malinowski looked at the Trobiands of Pacific Islands. They both see their subject as ‘savage people’.

I SOOOOO agree with you. This individual has not the vaguest understanding of Christian faith and family values. Our church does not have infant baptism, but dedicates newborns to the Lord. Too often I see a young girl come before the congregation on Sunday morning with her baby and no husband. We pray for her and the baby, and welcome her into the church family without reservation.
