Lindsay Lohan Says Bristol Palin's Pregnancy Is 'Distracting' Voters From Real Issues

Actress blogs that Sarah Palin should focus on campaign, not daughter's pregnancy.

While speaking to the delegates of the Republican National Convention on Monday, vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin announced that her 17-year-old-daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant. The chatter sparked by the news included a few words from someone who knows what it's like to be a teenage girl in the public eye: Lindsay Lohan took to her MySpace blog to weigh in on the issue.

"Well, I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place," Lohan wrote. "It's distracting from the real issues, the real everyday problems that this country experiences.

She continued, "I am concerned with the fact that Sarah Palin brought the attention to her daughter's pregnancy, rather than all world issues and what she believes she could possibly do to change them — if elected. I get Sarah Palin's views against abortion, but I would much prefer to hear more about what she can do for our country rather than how her daughter is going to have a child no matter what."

She also talks about the importance of sex education for teenagers. "I think that parents need to recognize how important it is to talk to their children about the things that can result from being sexually active if they aren't protecting themselves (birth control, condoms, etc.)," she wrote.

Tuesday morning (September 2), media outlets began running details from the MySpace page of the father of Bristol's baby, 18-year-old Levi Johnston. (The MySpace page has since been removed.) The Wasilla, Alaska, hockey player's page had listed him as being in a relationship, but under his "children" status, Johnston opted for "I don't want kids."

On Monday, Sarah Palin issued a statement about Bristol's pregnancy saying that she and her husband, Todd, are "proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support." The statement noted that Bristol and Johnston will marry, and asked that the media "respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

Don't forget to include "don't mix ludes and liquor" in this warning...

50sDad blogs that Lindsey Lohan should focus on her embarassing same-sex-addiction, drug-addiction, alcohol-addiction, and the way she has utterly, completely, and totally destroyed her own life and those of her family, rather than issue her own boneheaded opinions about the campaign, which she has absolutely no qualified opinion upon.

Yeah, do you recall all the liberal MSM going after Algore III after he nearly was tossed out of private school for alcohol and drugs while his dad was running for office? Of course not.

Great. Yesterday I was reading the opinions of poker player (and Canadian) Daniel Negraneau (sp?). Today, it's Lindsay.

Who's next? The Afflac duck?

but under his "children" status, Johnston opted for "I don't want kids."

There is a category to indicate you are a "proud parent", "don't want kids", or "maybe someday". That's it.

How many parents aren't "proud" parents? Would it be ok to smear someone who's kid went on a rampage, look at the adults' websites and express "shock" that they are "proud" about what their kid did?

This myspace thing is so stupid to be considered a DNC talking point.

Not really. She's attacking Palin for the disclosure when the real culprit is the media.

And Palin does not need to be the focus of the Convention coverage until she is formally nominated.

Where is the coverage of the GOP and McCain in all this?

And when will the media vet Obama?

Like I sad, "kind of".

"...but I would much prefer to hear more about what she can do for our country rather than how her daughter is going to have a child no matter what."

"I think that parents need to recognize how important it is to talk to their children about the things that can result from being sexually active if they aren't protecting themselves."

That's more than I've heard from Alan Colmes and his lib buddies.

Why are so many idiots, a good many right here, pontificating this as though the Palins did NOT provide their daughter with this information? They know for a fact that Bristol's parents left her totally ignorant of what we euphemistically call "the facts of life"?
