Ukraine to increase rent for Russian Fleet by up to 25 times

From January 1, 2009, the Ukrainian leadership is planning to put up the rent for the Crimean territories where Russia’s Black Sea Fleet is stationed, according to Russia’s Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper. It claims the corresponding documents are being prepared by Ukraine’s Ministries of Foreign Relations and Defence.

The rent price was calculated in 1997 and defined in the treaty of disposition of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet on the territory of Ukraine. The calculations took into consideration the Ukraine’s debt to Russia, which at the time was $US 2 billion, and the cost of renting port facilities was agreed at $US 98 million.

Currently, Ukrainian debt to Russia is estimated at $US 1.3 billion.

Nevertheless, Ukraine’s former Defence Minister and now a member of parliament Anatoly Gritsenko says the country should pay off the debt and put up the rent – to $US 1 billion a year at least. His colleague Yury Kostenko believes the price should be $US 2.5 billion.

If your going into the “ war mongering “ business be prepared to have the contractors raise the rates. The US pays a lot for our excursions and Russia is finding out how much the world will charge for such actions.

Match the rental cost to the cost of the natural gas that Russia sends to Ukraine + 50%. If they don't pay, sink ALL the Russian ships in Ukrainian waters and watch Russia growl in pain.

Ukraine is playing a dangerous game. Hope they can back up their rhetoric (without our support).

I suppose they should just sit and wait...and wait...
If they are going to do a bold move, NOW is the time.

Don’t sink the ships... just offer a day of free shore leave, paid for by the Ukrainian government.

Then, while the Russian sailors are enjoying themselves... Ukrainian forces seize the ships.

Presto, instant expansion of the Ukrainian Navy.

As for the now ship-less Russian sailors, send them back to Russia via train.

If the Ukraine pushes too much, Russia will take what it wants or needs. And there will be no help coming from the West. That’s just the truth.

Good move by Ukraine....I think they realize they have more resources to handle the Russkies than the Georgians do

Of course, when you have liberal Globalists in the White House and State Dept...there wont be the support. Now if Ukraine had a bunch of La Raza-supporting illegal alien gang-bangers...Jorge Boosh would be all helpful

This is going to be the next Danzig/Polish Corridor situation, and we all know what that led to.
