Of course do you really expect McCain would govern by that? I don’t.

Not a chance.

Mavericks do as they please... who needs a platform? :-(

The Republcans’ Call to Arms

Tuesday, September 02, 2008
by Phyllis Schlafly

We recall the words of the old popular song, “What a Difference a Day Makes; 24 Little Hours.” In this political year, it was actually 38 hours, but the poetry is the same.

That’s the time-spread between the locking up of the 2008 Republican platform on Wednesday at 8 p.m. and the selection of conservative Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain’s Veep choice at 10 a.m. on Friday.

In just 38 hours, disheartened conservatives were transformed into enthusiastic Republicans, armed and ready to storm the pseudo-Greek temple that Barack Obama erected in the mile-high city of Denver.

It’s hard to exaggerate the turnaround in the attitude of grassroots Republicans — a CNN reporter expressed herself as “shocked.” Palin is a breath of fresh air to John McCain’s campaign.

The Republican Party platform, hammered out by a grassroots committee with representatives from every state, gives Republicans a basis on which to rebuild their party.

It’s a “call to arms,” a platform of bold colors with no pastel shades, just as Ronald Reagan described the 1976 platform that delegates adopted after rejecting the Gerald Ford-Henry Kissinger platform.

This year’s platform is a complete break from the ponderous 2004 platform, which strung together 40,000 tiresome words.

The 2008 platform isn’t about personalities; it’s about principles.

The 2004 platform had endorsed the “Free Trade Area of the Americas,” a foolish notion to bring about the economic integration of the Western Hemisphere and allow cheap labor to replace American jobs. (Yell icon)

The 2008 platform sensibly calls for “a Western Hemisphere of sovereign nations with secure borders,” and the committee unanimously rejected the goal of a “North American Union” modeled on the European Union. (Laughing icon)

This year gave us a clear improvement over the previous platform in regard to the English language. In 2004, Republicans called English “our nation’s common language” and endorsed bilingual education, (Yell icon)

but the 2008 platform supports “English as the official language in our nation” because it is “essential as a unifying cultural force” and omits mention of bilingual ed (often called language apartheid). (Laughing icon)

The 2004 platform had lined up with the now-defeated amnesty plan of the U.S. Senate. It endorsed a “new temporary worker program” and allowing illegal aliens currently holding jobs in the United States “to apply for citizenship in the same manner as those who apply from outside the United States.” (Yell icon)

In a clear break, the 2008 platform calls for building the border fence, securing our ports, enforcing existing laws against “illegal workers and lawbreaking employers,” requiring the use of E-Verify, deporting criminal aliens, denying federal funds to sanctuary cities, and refusing driver’s licenses, in-state college tuition rates and Social Security benefits for illegal aliens. (LaughingLaughing icon)

The 2008 platform marks a refreshing break from the previous platform’s obsequious kowtowing to the United Nations and other international bureaucrats. (Laughing icon)

The 2004 platform had said that the United States is “committed to lasting institutions like the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.” (Yell icon)

The 2008 platform doesn’t mention the WTO and includes several paragraphs of criticism of the United Nations, citing its “scandal-ridden and corrupt management,” the “disproportionate” dues we are forced to pay, and its discrimination against Israel and the Vatican.

“We oppose amnesty.”..=...”...en masse legalizations”

Hopefully, if they are defining amnesty as ‘en masse legalizations’, they oppose ANY amnesty of ANY kind (earned or otherwise) for ANY (’criminal’ or ‘non-criminal’) illegal aliens .

This would be the closest yet I’ve seen to any much needed definition of amnesty.

The more traditional term is 'assimilation', that is obliging immigrants to Americanize themselves, and abandon alien traditions. You have a problem with that?

Huh? How did you come to that conclusion. My point was that why is it government's responsibility to "help" them assimilate? Also, note they don't use the word "assimilate".

"Government... must do more to foster" is the term they use. It means spending tax dollars. I am not for it.

I agree. My great great grandparents came here speaking barely a word of english. There were no classes for them to attend on becoming American. They became American by working to buy a home and make a living. My grandparents assimilated through immersion without taxpayer help.

Oh, did you notice that the GOP let Tommy Espinoza of La Raza speak last night?

And Lastly ...

LOVE ...

The GOSPEL of MATTHEW ...

Chapter 25 ...verse 35 ... says "I WAS A STRANGER AND YOU MADE ME WELCOME."

When John McCain says, "IMMIGRANTS Are Also GOD's children" ... I know his SUFFERING ...has given him COMPASSION for the weak, broken families, and the poor ...

Have you ever read such a use of code words for amnesty?

The audience reaction was pretty lame for this guy. They should have booed him off the stage.

I haven’t been watching. I like what I see in Sarah Palin but have yet to hear her views on immigration.

Espinoza did his "Pay Me I'm A Victim" act.

Espinoza says McCain's SUFFERING ...has given him COMPASSION for the weak, broken families, and the poor ...

Gag and hurl.

How about some compassion for taxpayers socked with the tab for these invaders using forged documents and stolen SS nos to ride the US gravy train?

And BTW, let's see your papers, Tommy.

Politicians' gonads are being squeezed by propaganda emanating from south of the border. Vote-crazed pols are mesmerized by the (fraudulent) voting numbers being tossed around.

Juan Hernandez, McC's Hispanic Outreach man told Cong Tancredo: " By populating the United States with millions of Hispanics who are tied economically, politically and linguistically to Mexico, we are able to exert enormous influence and pressure on U.S. policy and its dealings with Mexico."

============================================

Third World hellholes are salivating, lying in wait to corrupt US justice and undermine US national security. They are moving reconquista forward inch by inch. Third World peasants are marched over the border to begin the process-----subsidized by US taxpayers.

Once they squat here, the illiterates cop an arrogant sense of entitlement---like America owes them a living. They violate our borders, invade our cities, towns and suburbs, establish multiple identities with several stolen SS nos, and ride the US gravy train for all its worth.

As Freeper raybbr insightfully posted: the invaders feel entitled to participate in our government, our security, our prosperity, our legislative process, and our thriving society.

About time to show these Third World Wonders the way to go home.

We support English as the official language in our nation,

Enough to pass a law stating such and ending the requirement for multi-language documents and translators?

Naw, didn't think so.

All the GOP has to do is talk, talk, TALK about this platform, including running radio and tv ads, and the election is in the bag.

Of course they'll choose to say nothing...sigh...

The La Raza guy was the SECOND DEMOCRAT interloper speaking from the Republican podium. (In addition to LOSERMAN....

Both of 'em are gross corrupters of the political system.....connivers keeping a foot in both camps so that whoever wins, they get theirs. Keep in mind LIEberman write out a $100,000 check to Dems so as not to lose his Dem creds.

Lieberman is a calculating, deceitful conman.

The Ntl Right to Life Committee staill has notes circa 1988 when he ran for the Senate.

BACKSTORY Based on an internal Lieberman poll indicating pro-life votes were there for the taking, Lieberman courted Catholics, and made pro-life promises that he had no intention of keeping. (He was then Atty General running for pro-abort Sen Weicker's seat.)

LIEberman swore he was pro-life and made many, many pro-life pledges to Connecticut pro-life leaders.

Lieberman got into the Senate----thanks to the efforts of pro-lifers and Catholic clergy who were conned by Lieberman (ol' Joe must be right proud of that con job that got him elected).

Once in office, Lieberman became an unwavering abortion rights supporter, voting consistently pro-abortion, and even voting to uphold partial-birth abortion on six separate occasions.

Sen Lieberman is notorious for being on both sides of the political fence. He says one thing to make people believe he's a "moderate" when his actions show he does the exact opposite, voting consistently as a radical liberal.

EXAMPLE Lieberman and ex-Reagan Education Secy Bill Bennett used to give out "Silver Sewer Awards" to express opposition to Hollywood's salacious, sexually explicit and violent music, TV and movie output. Then when Sen Lieberman became Vice-president Gore's running mate, he went to Hollywood on bended knee, promising to strengthen Hollywood's ultra-liberal control over America, in exchange for votes and campaign financing.

EXAMPLE During Clinton's impeachment, Lieberman went on and on, railing against Bad Boy Bill---but when it came time to put his money where his mouth was---LIEberman sucked up and voted AGAINST impeachment.

The Lieberman scourge has gone on too long. LIEberman is a pukeneo stooge attached to McC to make sure McC reads from the right script and does not stray from the pukes agenda.
