Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin attempted to quietly have her daughter Bristol get married before news of her pregnancy leaked out, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER is reporting exclusively in its new issue.

Palin planned for the wedding to take place right after the Republican National Convention and then she was going to announce the pregnancy.

But Bristol, 17, refused to go along with the plan and that sparked a mother-daughter showdown over the failed coverup.

This slander boarders on libel! It's an outrage that the media is still fixating on this personal family matter.

Not according to Bristol's boyfriend's mother!!!

They were already engaged before they found out she was pregnant!

how did they know that?

How come when they exposed John Edwards they were the newspaper of record, now they’re back to being a rag. We are officially a tabloid country....We have no collective conscience...I truly think we are in end times.

The "failed cover up" was an open secret in Alaska, so there was no story for the Enquirer to break in the first place. In the second place, how does the Enquirer know what the Palin's plans for/with their daughter were? There is no source attributed to this claim, so I guess we have to assume that this is one of those nasty little insinuations covered under "actual malice."

It's nice of the Enquirer to take credit for breaking the story, better still for them to fill in details to which they cannot possibly be privy; unfortunately, like most of what's in the rag, it simply isn't true.

Levi Johnston's mother said her 18-year-old son left Alaska this morning to join the Palin family at the convention where Sen. John McCain will officially receive the Republican nomination for president. The boy's mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.

"This is just a bonus," Johnston said.

I’m sorry. I didn’t pay any attention to that either. I didn’t give a —— about it. I guess it did titilate some though. Some people do need sumpin’ to read while waiting for their welfare checks.

Exactly. And Jesse Jackson's love child. They've got better investigative journalists than real newspapers these days.

It's obvious McCain/Palin weren't planning to announce this when they did. Doesn't matter to me, though. I'm still not voting for Obama.

You have a point, but I don’t think what happened between mom and daughter is necessarily something you can pay to get good info on. Unless they have tapes/video.

Wrong.

The Edward's story was well known to several news organizations, including the local Raleigh paper long before the Enquirer had anything to say about it. Most of them spiked the story either for Edward's benefit, or to spare his wife.

Cover-up? What cover-up? That’s like saying I covered up the fact that I had Italian for dinner last night. It can’t be a cover-up if its nobody’s business!
