Alaska Party Official Says Palin Was Not a Member

September 2, 2008, 10:32 pm Alaska Party Official Says Palin Was Not a Member By The New York Times

The chairwoman of an Alaskan political party that advocates a vote on the state’s secession from the union said Tuesday that she had been mistaken when she said Gov. Sarah Palin was a member of the group.

A front-page story in The New York Times on Tuesday and articles in other news media reported that Ms. Palin was a member of the Alaska Independence Party for two years in the 1990’s.

The information in the Times article was based on a statement issued Monday night by Lynette Clark, the party’s chairwoman, who said that Ms. Palin joined the party in 1994 and in 1996 changed her registration to Republican. On Tuesday night, Ms. Clark said that her initial statement was incorrect and had been based on erroneous information provided by another member of the party whom she declined to identify.

The McCain campaign also disputed the Times report, saying that Ms. Palin had been registered consistently as a Republican. After checking the party’s archives, Ms. Clark said that she could find no documentation that Governor Palin had been a member of the party. She said Ms. Palin attended the party’s 1994 and 2006 conventions and provided a video-taped address as governor to the 2008 convention. Ms. Clark said that Ms. Palin’s husband, Todd, was a former member of the party.

Lynette Clark seems to like seeing her name in print.

I’m glad this turned out to be false. I was beginning to think McCain hadn’t been as thorough in vetting her as he should.

And yet another false claim goes down in flames. Surely independent women are noticing this. Here’s hoping.

Probably the most attention this political party has gotten outside the State of Alaska.

It doesn't matter how many times something is denied because there will be more than a few who will want to believe the lies no matter how much evidence to the contrary there is. Once something is said, nothing can take it back. It's an ol’ attorney trick of saying something in court without any basis or revelance. A judge can ask the jury to disregard the comment but he can't make them forget it.

Good job you frickin tools!

It wouldn't matter to me if Mrs. Palin was a member of the Alaska Party for two years in the 1990s, 10 years, or if she were a member even now. I wouldn't give a rip if she had openly advocated a vote for secession. I would rather appreciate her the more. That in no way means that I am anti-Union. It means I am for almost anything to stir the states to insisting upon their 10th Amendment prerogatives.

The damage has been done and the media is still getting mileage on the bogus story. The rebuttal was printed yesterday, but apparently the word has not reached other media, or they just don't care about the truth.

The goal of the Democrats' smear machine was to instill that fear in us.

I’ll go on record as saying that I favor Virginia’s secession from the union. We did it once, and we can do it again.

And yet Barack Obama’s association and major finacial support of a black seperatist church with rabid sermons about AmeriKKKa is “off limits” in the press as is his political association with a domestic terrorist who bombed the Pentagon, supported the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam war (a crime of treason as defined in the Constitution), and targeted police for violence.

The slimey media had BETTER be discussed in text books the way “McCarthyism” is in our public schools.

"I’m glad this turned out to be false. I was beginning to think McCain hadn’t been as thorough in vetting her as he should."

Explain to me why it matters at all whether she was a member of a party other than Republican at some time in the past. She's a Republican now, and she was a Republican when she ran for governor. Lots of people have changed parties (or belonged to NO party) at some time or another.

Not a word about the fact Alaska has two republican partys.. The regulars and the RINOs(moderates).. Alaska also has a democrat party.. Alaska is pretty much republican territory.. The democrats there, as in most places, are the lazy uninformed clueless like every where else.. mostly inhabiting Anchorage..

No doubt the unnamed “Other member of the Party” is actually named Lucy Ramirez-you know the good friend of Bill Burkett!

I wouldn’t pay much attention to the front page (or any page) of hte New YOrk Times. This is hte newspaper that put an excerpr on the front page of some “book”) by trash writer Kitty Kelley that claimed that Nancy Reagan had a long-term affair at the White House with Frank Sinatra. This is the newspaper that put an interview with domestic terrorist William Ayers (in which he said he didn’t do enough) on the front page on September 11, 2001.

This is exactly analogous to how the media treated Richard Nixon in 1952, and you can see the relationship that he had with the media for the rest of his career.

This is war.

Andrea Mitchell was repulsive with Joe Lieberman after his speech last night.

..and it’s also the newspaper that apparently had 30,000 subscriptions cancelled in a single day. The real kicker will be when the New York Post is named the new “paper of record” because only 17 people are reading the Slimes

"I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions". —Joe Vogler, founder, Alaskan Independence Party" That's why. I'm glad she was never a member of this party. Her husband was, though. That might still be a problem.

Put it this way. If Michelle Obama were a longtime member of a damn-America party I think we would be objecting, a little bit.
