John McCain did send a vetting team to Alaska to investigate Governor Sarah Palin's background before he chose her as his vice-presidential running mate, according to senior campaign officials.
The trip to Alaska, disclosed for the first time, undermines Democratic claims that his choice of Mrs Palin, 44, was hasty, impetuous and had not been properly researched.
The team of several specialist researchers was similar to the teams that investigated others on Mr McCain's vice-presidential shortlist.
"There was a vetting team on the ground before she was named," a senior McCain adviser told The Daily Telegraph. "These were people who know how to do it so they can get in and out quietly.
"Nobody noticed them when they were here. There is nothing that we have encountered about Sarah Palin that we didn't already know about."

That’s because unlike Obama’s team, McCain’s team is professional. Obama’s team announced to the world that it would be secret and their supporters would be the 1st to know from the text message. Neither happened.

Actually he does, it comes with his position as U.S. Senator. He's cleared for whatever secret and top secret information his job as a Senator requires him to know. Nothing more and nothing less. And since he's on Foreign Relations and Homeland Security committees then I imagine he's privy to some pretty sensitive material.
The ObamaMedia crowd is acting as if the focus of the vetting process would’ve been the love life of her teenage daugher. Rather it involves issues of finance, ethics and governance, in addition to any potential scandals of the principals.
To their minds, obsessed with sex, and guilty about leaving their kids at home (why else the vitriol at Sarah), the vetting process should have included the 17 year old daughter.

Amazing how much more respectful the British press is toward the entire Palin family than the American msm.

Can you imagine what the democrats and republicans would be saying if Senator McCain decided NOT to choose Sarah Palin because her daughter was pregnant.
Or if he felt a woman with children could not do a sufficient job as Vice President.

Actually, I was thinking the Democrats did the same thing with Kerry in 2004 and Obama in 2008... then again, it's just me... what do I know? I like my guns and religion...
Don’t doubt that, but what is nauseating is the emphasis placed on the daughter by Jann Wenner et al (US magazine), CNN, Katie Couric and the MSNBC crowd.
The girl is not running for office.
I cannot believe that no matter how liberal they are, parents would not be aghast and disgusted with the tone and demeanour of the TV fluffernutters.
