Mother...of all speeches

SARAH Palin has given the biggest speech of her life, telling America: I’m ready to serve my country.

The 44-year-old mum-of-five told her remarkable story to the Republican convention in St Paul, Minnesota — with millions watching live TV coverage around the world.

The appointment of John McCain’s vice presidential running mate has energised the Republicans.

It also stole some much-needed spotlight from Democratic rival Barack Obama — whom she targeted in her speech.

She attacked Obama over lack of experience and emphasised her own as an ex-mayor.

Referring to Obama’s time as a community organiser in Chicago she said: “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organiser’, except that you have actual responsibilities.”

She told the convention that she would continue her reforming record in Alaska in the White House.

Saying that she was not going to Washington to make friends, she promised: "I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country."

And she also attacked the Democrat leader’s campaign message: “In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”

She also backed calls to develop home-grown energy supplies, including new oil drilling in her home state, saying: "The fact that drilling won't solve every problem is not an excuse to do nothing at all."

Grand slam! The MSM and the Dems made a big mistake attacking her. It guaranteed her a huge national audience. And she helped McCain strike gold... went a long way towards helping him to close the sale. That's his job now with the American people!

Anyone dumb enough to think that Governor Palin is not ready for the big time obviously didn’t see her speech last Friday morning and her speech tonight at the convention. Governor Palin is the real deal. Attacking her family is a big mistake. BIG MISTAKE!

Note: The slogan was originally posted to FR by Renfield. Islander7 created the graphic. I've merely taken the initiative in publicizing it. It's so good, it may well be the "Sore/Loserman" of the 2008 election.

If you want change in Washington D.C.

I mean you really want change.

Do you vote for the Fighter Pilot and the mother of 5?

Or do you vote for the two Lawyers?

"The fact that drilling won't solve every problem is not an excuse to do nothing at all."

She says this and Zerobama says we should air up our tires?

Zerobama should be toast on this issue alone.

Fox News is rebroadcasting it now for those who missed it. Rudy is in the tail end of his speech. Palin is up next.

Yep, they made a huge mistake. A lot of people tuned in to see who this controversial person was and saw a star. There will be enough chatter around tomorrow that people will get online and listen to her speech if they missed it tonight. She is such a sympathetic person that their attacks now will seem petty and weak. People, especially women, want her to succeed now. They want to believe that someone just like them can march into Washington and kick butt and take names.

John McCain is the world’s best at high-stakes poker.

I know, and I can’t wait to hear what the audience figures were, after-polls, etc. The Demagogues could have played it safe, ignored her, and it might have been a much smaller audience. But they decided they had to try to “Eagleton” her, and they probably pumped her audience up by many millions.

In a move to distance the Arizona senator from the unpopular current administration, George Bush was the first president in 40 years not to appear at the convention in person.

I think the writers missed the boat there. The Presidential convention appearance cancellation was due to a Category 5 hurricane bearing down on the yet-to-recover New Orleans. I'm sure no sleep was lost by McCain's people over GWB not being able to be there, but that was simply a bonus not the primary reason President Bush was not there in person on the previously scheduled time. It was a miracle that the hurricane petered out at the last moment.

Hurricane Sarah was at full force in St. Paul, however. Or, for our friends across the pond, to put it in Alistair MacLean's terms, Force 12 from Alaska hit the stage at the Republican Convention.

Ut;s funny how the Democrats kept saying they were not going to make the same mistake twice ... they were going to attack the GOP and Bush at their convention. They gloated over how their people “attacked”.

Tonight they are screaming about how Sarah Palin’s tone was too sarcastic, too negative.

Sounds like they got beat at their own game.

If any of the Democrats thought they could push her off of the ticket. They would have a better chance of beating up Chuck Norris. Or getting Michael Phelps to give up his gold medals.

This woman has it. “IT”. John F Kennedy had IT, Ronald Reagan had IT.

Whatever IT is. Sarah Palin has it !!

It hit me tonight. This woman is going to serve as Vice President and then she is going to run for President and win.

I like the title. I’ll need to read the article later.

.

.

Here’s how I’ve been bumping Palin/Obama threads today.

Sung to the tune of “Oh! Susanna, don’t you cry for me.”

“Oh, no Bama, please don’t lie to me... for I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.”

I come from Minnesota with my laptop on my knee;
I’m goin’ to Free Republic my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left,
the weather it was dry;
The sun so hot I froze to death,
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I come from Minnesota,
with my laptop on my knee.

I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Obama dear,
A-coming down the hill.
The smearing lie was in Duluth,
The tear was in his eye,
Said I, I’m coming for the truth
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.

I fight in my pajamas,
It’s plain for all to see.
I aim to be the next Buckhead;
The media all hate me.
I fell in love with Sarah
When my sister bit a moose.
The Guvnor’s family ate it up
And then they set it loose.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.

She loves her sons, she likes her guns,
and Trigonometry.
The media will jump the shark
When Juan makes history.
Well, JimRob knows she’ll pave the trolls
So controversially,
And Berg will knock Obama down
With friends of Hillary.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.

I soon will be in Hawaii,
And then I’ll look all ‘round,
And when I find his birth record,
I’ll fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find it,
This Freeper’ll surely die,
And when I’m dead and buried,
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you cry for me;
I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee

I agree totally. I was impressed when Senator McCain announced her as his running mate. Then I heard her announcement speech on Friday and her acceptance speech tonight. This lady is going to be President of the United States one day.

If all they can do is belittle her, they've lost. One would think they would have a substantiative response on hand. All they can do is make fun of her! Yeah, that's real classy!

There is one problem with Sara's speech: McCain's won't be nearly as good. In fact, i think we'd have to resurrect The Great Communicator to match her speech. She is phenomenal.

Funny thing....she makes it obvious that Obama does not have IT.

BO was just the surprise of a well spoken black who seemed at first to be post racial and had a couple of phrases that sounded inspiring the first few times he said them. But the whole package turned out to be a mirage.

Sara is the REAL DEAL - and very rare. I’m grateful she is on our side!
