<TX) Railroad Chairman (Williams) Says Policy Transcends Race
Houston Chronicle ^ | Sept. 4, 2008 | PEGGY FIKAC

Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Michael Williams is a Republican who counts President Bush among his friends, helped deliver the GOP counterpunch at the Democrats' convention and nominated John McCain at the Republican convention.

(snip)

"He's definitely an up-and-comer. That's recognized by the national party. That's recognized by the McCain campaign," he said, "and so I think that he will be there, and he'll be ready when that opportunity presents itself."

Michael Williams is the real deal too.

As usual the Comical shows the worst possible photo of Commissioner Williams.

It’s good to know that the TExas Railroad Commission is in good hands. This is a powerful body that used to set the world price for oil.

Better him than Jim Hightower, that's for sure.

When I first woke up from the Matrix of the liberal induced coma I’d lived in most of my life, I felt a bit like an outsider at someone else’s party. For the first little while, I didn’t notice any black faces around the pool, or at the bar.

But in time, I began to run into them here and there. That in itself didn’t make me suddenly more comfortable. I already was, because I share what matters most with right thinking Americans.

I will say that seeing those few faces from time to time did give me a certain sort of relief that I wasn’t the only black person with a set of working eyeballs and a brain.

Blacks have a long way to go as a political demographic. Of that, there is no doubt. There is without question, no other racial group in the country that votes as monolithically as they do. That herd condition is unnatural, and a sure indicator that they are artificially owned as a voting block.

I was happy to see Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams address the convention on national television. Just that image plants a seed for blacks who may be on the fence and wondering about our side.

It didn’t hurt that he spoke well, either.

Texas had a lot more conservative black Republicans in elected office. If you get the opportunity to hear any of them speak, you will know that they were elected because of their qualifications, not the color of their skin.

I’m not going to tell you who they all are, because I want you to go research it for yourself and discover their impact on Texas. Go to the Texas state website or the Republican Party of Texas website, instead of trying to find out about them through the media, as the media tries their best to hide the fact that we have well qualified black Republican leaders in Texas.

I’m amazed that the Comical actually ran this article and was complimentary to Commissioner Williams. But then again Commissioner Williams has such a strong presence, he’s hard to ignore. ;)

Yep. We nasty old white conservatives have been voting for black people for a long time here in Texas, and we are proud that our black friends are actually just our friends.

Color is not(nor should it be) an issue.

After volunteering to help out the McCain - Palin campaign, I went to the Collin County RNC website and was astounded to learn that the Republican party of Texas was founded by a group composed mostly of blacks.

Apparently, blacks aren't all that rare among Texas Republicans. I can't believe that I've been here two and and a half years, and I'm just now finding this out.

...they were elected because of their qualifications, not the color of their skin.

And that's how things ought to be.

MIchael Williams is a DYNAMITE speaker!

I first saw him at the Texas GOP convention in Houston eight years ago, which he chaired.
Chaired and ran with an iron fist, I might add; he was fair, but firm, and things happened on time and in good order.

I’d vote for him for Governor over anyone I can think of in Texas today, except maybe Jerry Patterson.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to pay attention to him from now on. I'm still learning the names and people in Texas state politics.
