Conservatives Should More Kids And A Brighter Future (Michael Medved On Right's Fecundity Alert)
Townhall.com ^ | 9/05/2008 | Michael Medved

When the McCain and Palin families assembled together on stage at the conclusion of the Republican Convention in Minnesota, I felt profoundly encouraged about the future. There are seven McCain children, and five Palins—for a total of twelve offspring for the ticket. Among the Democrats, Senator Obama has two children, and Senator Biden has three – for a total of five. Meanwhile, in an interview scheduled for broadcast this Monday, Michelle Obama told TV host Ellen DeGeneres “I’m done” when asked if she wanted another child. “This campaign is that child,” she said.

Of course, it’s possible that some of the McCain and Palin kids will find themselves influenced by friends or professors and abandon the conservative outlook of their parents – just as some of the Obama and Biden kids could shock their mothers and fathers with their own right turns. But studies show that the overwhelming majority of Americans (over 80%) replicate the political affiliation of the previous generation. This means that the population of conservatives (with their larger families) should grow more rapidly that the numbers of liberals (with their enthusiasm for Planned Parenthood and their substitution of campaigns for kids). Demographer Philip Longman has written about this phenomenon in Foreign Affairs and other publications. In other words, a more welcoming and protective attitude toward children and human life not only benefits conservatives with more fulfilling lives (as I fervently believes) but helps to secure a brighter political future. The crowded stage in St. Paul, compared to the less numerous Democratic display in Denver, may well provide a vision of things to come.

Conservatives have a happy future: they have large families and are reproducing. Liberals are slavishly devoted to aborting themselves out of existence. Take that, Obama!

The reason liberals are so enraged is that this as good as its going to get for them. Demography is working against them. Their two sacraments are concern with Malthusian decline and abortion. They are trapped by their innate hostility to life!

Yep. Having kids is the ultimate way a man and woman say "YES" to life, optimism, the future, and all good things.

Who wants to live in a society that's nothing but aging babyboomers anyway?

It seems I read or heard somewhere that about half of the children under the age of five in the U.S. are minority children. If conservatives can’t start making inroads in the minority communities I don’t see how conservatism can continue being a dominant force in the future.

Propagating the human race with six (count 'em) fabulous children! One of my sons is autistic and Sarah Palin's speech the other night touched a responsive chord in my heart when she said that parents of special needs children would have a friend in the White House if she and McCain were elected. All children are blessings from God and the materialistic libs don't know what they are missing.

The problem is that the left educates them in Preschool through university.

Same sort of numbers in my family.

Out of seven kids, my one brother and I are the sole Republicans. My brother has four kids, and I’ve got six.

Between my Republican brother and I, there are 10 kids altogether, or average 5 each.

Now, here’s the liberal Democrat sibling breakdown:

Brother# 2 = 0
Brother# 3 = 5
Sister# 5 = 2
Sister# 7 = 3
Sister# 8 = 1

Between the five of them, they’ve got 11 kids, or an average of 2.2 each.

I won’t even mention the number of aborted pregnancies the liberal siblings have had.

Not if you home school!

Absolutly correct. We will homeschool our children when they are old enough because that is the only way that we feel 100% comfortable in our jobs as parents.

Were you folks liberals? Because the theory of the article would seem to imply they were considering the majority of kids ended up Democrats.

I’ve got seven beautiful children, a son who is autistic and work full time (since I’m divorced). I am also a soccer-volleyball-basketball mom. Sarah’s background resonated with me. Whereas before I was going to hold my nose and vote for McCain, now I’m energized and will vote exuberantly for Palin and McCain.

Go Sarah!

BINGO!

And nowhere is this more important than in ending the scourge of infanticide. I’ve been arguing for some time now that we will not end the practice through partisan politics, but through math. It’s really quite simple. Those of us who embrace life and are pro-creation live our ethic and have children. Those children grow up reflecting the pro-creation attitudes of their parents. And they have lots of children themselves, and so it goes.

The culture of death, on the other hand, lives it’s ethic as well. Or perhaps more accurately *dies* it’s ethic. The NARAL crowd is too busy aborting and contracepting whatever prodigy they would have had to recognize that in a generation or two, there will be very few little NARAL supporters to pass along their twisted ideology.

Infanticide will eventually become illegal in the U.S. But you can rest assured that the politicians won’t actually get around to illegalizing the practice until about three months after the last “clinic” closes it’s doors due to lack of business.

He can't be serious. Just the same, maybe he's on to something. Dr. Strangelove, what do you think? Is it possible to correct the leftward political tilt of the country by increasing the fertility of traditional family units?
