Palin Smearing Baltimore Sun Columnist Whines Readers Being Mean to Her
Newsbusters ^ | 9/6/08 | Warner Todd Huston

Susan Reimer, columnist for the Baltimore Sun, is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that people took exception to her tactless bashing of Governor Sarah Palin in her September 1 column, "A woman -- but why this woman?" In fact, Reimer is so upset that people where exercised enough to drop her a note, give her a call, or write an email about her baseless smearing of Palin that she says in her September 5 column that she feels "frightened." Do you want some cheese and crackers to go with that whine, Reimer?

On Monday, I wrote a column criticizing the McCain campaign for what I saw as a cynical attempt to gather in unhappy women voters by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin his vice presidential candidate and for exploiting the poignant story of her youngest child to appease the Republican Party's pro-life base... And then the storm began.

Reimer was shocked to find that her substance free, lie filled attack on John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin generated "More than 8,200 comments were posted to the column on The Baltimore Sun's Web site. I received more than 700 personal e-mails and about 50 phone calls."

Even worse for Reimer, her gutter scraping column was read by Rush Limbaugh and Brit Hume and was linked by Drudge as an example of the outrageous treatment that Palin has gotten at the hands of feminist media elites like Reimer.

So many in the media make it sound like women don’t like Sarah Palin, yet when I have seen them actually interviewing real normal women, they love Sarah. She is seen as one of us, only better - someone we can aspire to be. I think she is a wonderful role model for women everywhere. I just pray she can hold up under the pressure. Not sure a man could. I saw somewhere on FR Sarah as Wonder Woman. I think it is very appropriate! Women have really been given short shrift by both parties for so long that it is exciting to see a break-out woman who is smart, “gets it”, and very pretty, too!

Nice! The same thing happens in my home town. The local newspaper, which actually has the word ‘demo-rat” in its title (how subtle can one be), delivers free issues to my doorstep in the hopes I will buy a subscription.

You can stop that if you want by calling the circulation desk and telling them that if they don't stop you will call the police and file a complaint for littering. I didn't even have to call the police, they stopped immediately.

Generally, the comments were not made behind the veil of anonymity the Internet can provide. The writers signed their names. And they revealed what I think has become the bare-knuckles nature of our national conversation.

Oh, I get it.

It's OK for people like HER to be "bare-knuckled" in "our national conversation," but NOT OK for the people she's attacking to be "bare-knuckled."

In other words, she can dish it out, but she can't take it.

I doubt very many women who have visited a scrape shop are going to vote McCain.

The ones who have repented will. The ones in denial will go for Infanticide Obama.

"Although I'm reluctant to predict what McCain will do, I know what he should do. I can unequivocally say that by putting Sarah Palin on the GOP presidential ticket, Johnny Mac would put the Democrats in check-mate and give US conservatives and every other American a reason to hope." -Justin Quinn, June 10, 2008

She looks like an elementary school teacher, smiling and gooey and deeply, deeply leftist.

Could you please post a link to the video? There’s so many out there, and I haven’t had time to see anything for weeks. Working too many hours.
Thank you.

Here is the dear girl’s email address:

susan.reimer@baltsun.com

I wrote her that she shouldn’t feel threatened or fearful.

It’s just an old-fashioned shaming that’s going on. Of course, there is the possibiity that she feels no shame — therefore — she jumped immediately to fear.

It is shameful that some people feel that they have the right to dish it out — but they think they should be exempt from being on the receiving end.

"Generally, the comments were not made behind the veil of anonymity the Internet can provide. The writers signed their names. And they revealed what I think has become the bare-knuckles nature of our national conversation.

"So much pent-up anger, so much barely concealed hate was released in those e-mails and those postings. I wonder where next they will find a vent.

Well yes, that happens when you know you are being duped by the people you once depended on for news, but are not allowed to answer back because you will be accused of hatred and hate speech.

Regarding this commie scribbler being "frightened".

It's real. It's called projection.

When Susan and her friends get power, this is what happens:

By the psychological mechanism known as projection , she believes that this is what will happen to her and her friends if they lose the next election.

Yeah, and nobody, I mean NOBODY demonstrates more hate and “frightening” speech and behavior than the left and its constituencies.

Even libs avoid their own because they’re scared shirtless of them.

Then they come running to mean ‘ol conservatives for protection.

That’s precisely it,they dish it out big time, but can’t take it when it’s reciprocated.

I heard that Tom Brokaw had taken offense at Palin’s attack on the media during his speech. Has he just fell off of a turnip truck?????????

H.L. Mencken, one-time Editor of the Baltimore Sun, and one of the greatest editors who ever lived, is spinning in his grave as a result of the Sun publishing this drivel. Attacking a disabled child in a political column? It is hard to imagine anything lower than that.

This women reporter deserves every word of criticism she's receiving, and more. Her editor deserves it as well. The Sun, which used to be a great paper, is a birdcage liner today.

There is one small benefit from this kind of attack. Competent women may see this, react negatively, and give this so-called columnist an education in the real world.
