McCain's new cast of thousands, all unknown
Boston Globe ^ | Sept. 6, 2008 | Sasha Issenberg

Since setting out from St. Paul Thursday night with his new running mate Sarah Palin, John McCain is for the first time being regularly welcomed by Obama-style crowds.

A midday rally Saturday at an airport hangar here seems to have pulled McCain's third straight showing of over 10,000 attendees... Staff had projected only 1,000 to show up yesterday for a morning rally in a Milwaukee suburb, they said, while an estimated 12,000 ended up flooding Cedarbury's small-town streets.

Sarah!

Just goes to show that the people wanted some solid conservative who is not tied to DC to run for the presidency.
They have her now.

Totally BS article. It is Cedarburg, not Cedarbury. there were 12,000+ people on the street and at least another 5,000 outside who couldn’t get into the fenced in area to see McCain and Palin. Also, it was announced numerous times on radio, that you should go to the Ozaukee Cty Republican website to register. While it is true you did not need a ticket to enter, I am sure the majority of people who went registered on the website, which was a link to McCains campaign website.

While certainly Sarah has a lot to do with it, maybe it’s a ‘halo effect’ but I think McCain impressed a lot of people Thursday night with his speech, and saw a different side of him.

GOP voters can figure out when and how to vote by themselves and are not looking for “walking around” money or rides to vote. This is a contrast to the Dims.

I’d like to go to one of these rallies. I wonder if/when they’ll be in the SoCal area.

John McCain is for the first time being regularly welcomed by Obama-style crowds.

Except that McCain/Palin crowds are now 10-20 time larger than Zerobama's

No, McCain's crowds are patriotic and bathe regularly...

They need to keep the excitement up and focus the message on energy, security, and lower taxes/smaller gov’t.

It’s time to get on message and put Obama on his heels responding to three things he is weak on.

I get the impression that she has brought out the best in McCain. He seems to draw some sort of energy from her. Picking a VP has to be a tough job and one that is dreaded. Having his decision so well received must have done wonders for his state of mind, especially following on Obama’s dreadful pick of Biden.

If McCain had picked anyone other than Palin, we would have all gone, “ Oh, well, he could have done worse” and his campaign stops would have been ho-hum gatherings. But Gov Palin has injected new, fresh blood into the GOP and it is on fire like it hasn’t been since 1994.

You can’t tell me that had McCain picked say, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, there would have been near as much excitement for this campaign.

They aren’t coming to Maryland but they *should*.

Somebody posted about a MD fair/event where campaign staffers handing out bumperstickers and signs were worried they’d run out.

I went to the local R headquarters open house today about an hour before they closed and they were already down to a handful of stickers.

I got a dozen signs and most of their remaining stickers.
[the “Women For McCain” and “Veterans For McCain” piles were almost gone]

Since I can only put the signs on my property, I have *no* idea what I’m gonna do with ‘em all.

I guess I could just put them *all* up in my lane and my yard....LOL

I agree, there is a chemistry like Hope and Crosby. Watching John McCain sandwiched in between Sarah and Cindy makes him look like a cocky flyboy again. Have you noticed?

Did you get them in Hagerstown? I didn’t know today was an open house event.

If you live in a Dem area, you will use them up replacing the ones vandalized or torn down.
