COLORADO SPRINGS — In just the second day of campaigning together, Republican Presidential nominee John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, gave a command performance of their convention week speeches to a crowd of more than 10,000 here.

McCain and Palin hit popular notes from their big-stage speeches by promising to rein in government spending, lead America to energy independence and win the war in Iraq.

"There's no place more appropriate than here in Colorado Springs, with all the great service of people from here, to tell you this: We are winning in Iraq," McCain said, drawing some of the biggest cheers of his 15-minute speech.

She’s had that on for a couple of weeks. It’s removable because I’ve seen her put it on and take it off. I don’t know what she did to her arm though.

Cindy is a very beautiful woman. Lots of gorgeous women don’t have the sense to devote themselves to good causes. I think Sarah is very good looking also - what a spitfire she is!

Can’t wait to get my bumper stickers - there are too many unanswered Obama stickers here in Oregon.

When people in my old neighborhood dressed like Cindy McCain did in that picture, snobs started telling ethnic jokes and Saturday Night Live made a skit out of it.

You do not read Haute Couture magazines, do you.

Me neither, but I know it when I see it.

You think Jacki Kennedy started a trend? LOL!

Wait until you see the Cindy and Sarah fashions this fall.

Mark these words.

That’s funny. What happened? Did Cindy break her arm? She’s wearing a cast.

I think she re-injured some type of carpal-tunnel or other overuse hand injury when an overenthusiastic supporter rigorously shook her hand a few weeks ago.

(By the way, oh boy does the FR spell checker have a heck of a suggestion to use instead of "carpal-tunnel"!!!)

I know it sounds like I'm being sarcastic but honestly to goodness, there's nothing I can think of that would make me change my mind about supporting her. She has so much good going for her that it would take an AWFUL lot of bad to outweigh the good. I am one whose past cannot stand much scrutiny, including a felony record nearly 50 years ago that pardoned 40 years ago. I know life and IMHO it's the average of a person's life that counts, not the highs or lows. Of course there are things that a single instance of which would mean disqualification for life from some posts, but generally speaking I have found it serves me best when I take the person's life as a whole.

God bless McCain/Palin!

I knew very little about Cindy going into the convention week, the more I’ve discovered the more I’m impressed by her. Her interaction with the children while sitting in the audience showed her to be a kind and gentlewoman.

To say nothing of the fact that she has lived with John McCain for almost 30 years!

:-D

Just read a story saying that today Hussien (oops, AP left that name out...must have been a mistake)Obama spoke to 800 people at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in Terre Haute, Ind. I’m sure there must be an explanation, but 800?!

Hussien apparently said no girl was going to bully him. This really is getting priceless. Hope it lasts.

Who broke Cindy’s hand? I can only imagine the excruciating pain this woman goes through with the thousands of hands she has to shake every week.

From the article:

“Don’t be fooled,” a particularly punchy Obama told a crowd this morning at a town hall meeting in Terre Haute, Ind.

Does "punchy" here mean he was punching back, or that he was acting punch-drunk?

What happened? Did Cindy break her arm? She’s wearing a cast.

An overly-enthusiastic hand-shake aggravated an old injury.

If I were her, I'd be wearing the cast when among the public for the rest of the campaign. It will at least discourage someone from doing it again.

Bob Dole's right arm was paralyzed in an war injury, and he carried a pen in that hand to discourage people from trying to shake it.

“Bayh prepped the crowd of about 800 Indianans for Obama’s spirited riff against McCain”

Heh.

Heh, heh.

(Stop that gloating, fanfan.)

Ahem. OK.

Thank you! Interesting how our/my preconceived notions can get in the way of reality! Plus - the order of the photos. Standing on the gantry(?)/stairs at the plane and THEN the photos of them speaking.

Did I miss the 800 supporters when I read this story. Or was the lack of attendees conveniently omitted by MSM?????

Before Palin spoke to the crowd she said “Wow!” numerous times as she looked out at the crowd.
