In an age when politics is choreographed, voters watch out for the moments when the public-relations facade breaks down and venom pours through the cracks. Their judgment is rarely favourable when it does. Barack Obama knows it. All last week, he was warning American liberals to stay away from the Palin family. He understands better than his supporters that it is not a politician's enemies who lose elections, but his friends.

The Obama camp must be in melt down. Perhaps fearing that the MSM has now slowed in its efforts to villify Sarah Palin and drive her out of the race, they have taken up the slurs and slams directly. Howard Guttman, an original member of the Obama national finance committee, went on Laura Ingraham Friday to again and again infer that Palin’s parenting skills and the choice to run for VP were suspect. It is stunning actually. A sample:
Gutman said the issue wasn’t one of gender, but one of parenting -– regardless of the gender of the parent.
“This has nothing to do with gender, whether Todd Palin was the nominee or Sarah Palin was the nominee,” Gutman said. “If my daughter had just come home at 17 years old and said, ‘Mom, Dad, I’m pregnant, we have a family problem,’ I wouldn’t say, ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to take this private family problem…and you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to go on the international stage and broadcast this to the world.’”
If only Cohen could’ve reached his liberal brethren in the U.S. much sooner, he would’ve been able to save them from running off the cliff!

This would apply to a great number of Obama "supporters", the anyone but Bush crowd.
I say let the MSM and the Dems self-destruct. Let them attack Palin on anything and everything.
Meanwhile, she will let it all roll off her back and show the country and the world how strong and resilient she is.

Cohen has enough distance on the subject so that he can clearly see how his team in America just blew it. That same distance gives him the ability to tell the truth about it without much discomfort on his part.

This is a very interesting article. I know nothing about the British press. Is the Guardian a leftist paper or magazine in Great Britain? And who is Nick Cohen who wrote the piece?
He’s probably been in the game so long that he’s forgotten how to be self-righteous and now only concerns himself only with the means and not the ends. But that may be one way of looking at evil.
The only part of the article that was completely ignorant and wrong, but let me correct it:

[but they can help him win if they do all Obama's dirty work without the people of American knowing Obama is the one along with his campaign manager directing the hate and smears, unless Obama's followers including the MSM over do it--disgusting the American people.]
Apparently this guy forgets that it was the venomous left which broadcast it to the world.
