Nothing like panicked lefty rock 'stars' having their panties in a knot.

I thought after 25 years, a song becomes part of the “public domain”.

Can the bands and or record labels legally compel someone not to play their music? Does that not violate “Fair Use” provisions?

Who cares? They're so dated if they don't want Americans to listen to their songs!

They should be glad we are using their songs. At least they are getting play. When is the last time you heard a Heart song not on Muzak?

Oh, the GOP should stick to music written by capable people. “Flight of the Valkyire” or something classy and uncopyrighted by twits.

What I don’t understand is if the campaign is paying royalties to ASCAP or BMI to play licensed music, it really doesn’t matter what the artist says.

Stop Using Our Songs!!
O.K. In return, I throw in the "We'll Stop buying Your songs" for free.
To: pissant
I thought the the usage of copyrighted music was handled by organizations like ASCAP, and that anyone who paid the appropriate royalty could use the music.
I also heard a radio DJ who should have known say that “fair use” allows anyone to use 22 seconds of a song without paying any royalty. (I don’t agree with that sort of “fair use” which requires no royalty, if that’s how is it).
Does anyone really know how this works legally?

I am still waiting for Springsteen to come out with a Sarah Palin song. If there's ever been a politician whose family story is reflected in Springsteen lyrics, it's Sarah Palin: blue-collar workers, teen pregancies, working hard for the American dream, etc.
I probably shouldn't hold my breath waiting.
