"Two different polls. The 48-45 from earlier was the Gallup daily tracking poll with a three day rolling sample. The 54-44 is a Gallup poll commissioned by USA Today and conducted once or twice a month."

The Gallup poll of (48%-45%) is for the days of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of registered voters.

The Gallup/USA Today poll of (54%-44%) is for the days of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of likely voters.

This recent poll is much more significant.

“Seems the left radicals will do anything to win this time! Scary!”

They will die trying, start the second civil war and bring hell and destruction upon themselves.

48-45 is registered voters.
54-44 is likely voters.

FWIW, the most recent SurveyUSA question, "If you were to bet today on who will win, who would you bet on?" looks almost identical with Gallup's "likely voters" result.

If we're comparing a rolling average against a spot check, then that would make some difference. I agree with that. However, I think McCain will end up show a lead of about +2, and that will equal a campaign counter-bounce of 10 points (given McCain's 2 point lead going into the Dem convention.)

I'd rather have a 2 pt lead than a 2 pt deficit, but it also means, "Don't get complacent."

It's time to work, work, work. This nation can't afford ZerObama as president.

Well this good news and I’m sure it’s pretty accurate. Most pollsters called ‘04 pretty good (most polls had Bush up by 2%-3% on election eve). I believe if the election were today, McCain would win. But with 2 months to go, alot can happen.

The debates will make a huge difference. In the Democrat debates Obama didn’t do well with Hillary and he is not known to be a great debater. You know his people are really coaching him to do better.

I remember back in 2000 MCain did fairly well in his debates with Bush in the primaries. Hopefully McCain still has it and can force Obama to stammer and stutter like he always does when no teleprompter is present.

I’m looking forward to the Palin vs. Plugs debate! I saw fotage of Sarah in the Alaska Republican Primary debates of 2006 and she shut down the other two guys pretty good. She was articulate and much more informed on the issues. The other two guys were going at it as if Sarah wasn’t a factor in the race. Then she showed she can more than hold her own. It’ll be great if she can get Plugs to go off his nut at some and say something stupid like he often does.

Still 2 months to go and we are in good shape. But remember the media, Hollywood and a bunch of radical organizations are out to destroy McCain-Palin. We’ll have to fight all the way to election day.

Important update about the DUmp thread on this topic. The person who criticized the Obama campaign and predicted his loss was banned from the site. All of his posts were deleted. This is how liberals deal with dissent. They are Stalinist to the core. This is why Obama MUST be defeated.

“Let’s not get comfy here - Vote fraud will be huge this year. There is a large group of people totally invested in Obama.”

I agree but you have to feel very good about where we are right now vs two weeks ago.

McCain/Palin have all the momentum. They can use this to promote energy, lower taxes, security, and reform. Those are four positives they own and it reassures voters.

No need for McCain to go negative. It’s going to get nasty but it won’t be on his dime or his name. McCain can use negative ads focusing on other Dems (and Obama) saying Obama is not ready. I think those will be incredibly effective with no negatives for McCain.

Obama is in deep trouble. His covention message was “McCain is the third term of Bush” and “hope and change and it is not sticking or resonating. If he has any message beyond that I have not seen it. The pool of undecided voters appears to be shrinking rapidly in favor of McCain.

It will be fun watching Obama because he really does not appear to handle stress well.
