Strong at Home, Respected in the World--The 2004 Democratic National Platform for America
We will defend the dignity of all Americans against those who would undermine it. Because we believe in the privacy and equality of women, we stand proudly for a woman's right to choose, consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of her ability to pay. We stand firmly against Republican efforts to undermine that right. At the same time, we strongly support family planning and adoption incentives. Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.
Renewing Americas Promise-2008 Democratic National Platform
Choice
The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose anyand all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.
Sooooo—who do they expect to pay for these abortions?
Nothing forgives or justifies the holocaust of the innocents but I wonder if the leftists realize that they are killing the generation they were to raise and, putatively, inculcate with their leftist ideas.
They don’t need to raise their own. They have yours...in the public education system.
I have a plan that would really make them safe and rare.
Abortions must be paid for by private donations. No federal funds can be used and no woman should be charged a fee.
Physicians that choose to provide abortions must do so pro bono.
If you meet the three I raised, you will see how poor a job they did
I would suggest that if something is a mistake, that means the person who committed it would have sought to avoid it if aware of the consequences. If knowledge of the consequences wouldn't have cause the person to avoid the action, it is not a mistake.
If liberals want to ensure that getting pregnant so as to require an abortion has no consequences, that would mean it would not be viewed as a mistake. If such pregnancy is not a mistake, why would anyone expect it to be rare?
I'd drop the first two sentences, and add a proviso that physicians accepting consideration for the performance of abortion would be subject to fines or revocation of license. IMHO, that requirement would probably do a pretty good job of dealing with 'life of mother' cases. A doctor who feels that his Hippocratic Oath would compel him to perform an action that would kill a fetus but save the mother, because the alternative would be the death of both, should be more concerned with saving the woman's life than with payment. If a doctor would not feel that level of compulsion, perhaps the action isn't really necessary.
Thank you for this post.
Every 4 years the Democratic party talks about how they need to bring people together regarding abortion, and every 4 years they get more extreme.
The laughable part is how the MSM was talking about how the Democratic platform IMPROVED for conservative democrats and their concerns about abortion. Yet, we read the language and its clear that they’ve now lost any pretense of pushing for “rarity”. They were claiming that the platform now explicitly supports women who want to carry their pregnancies to term. Nobody even bothers to mention that that really should go without saying.
...at least in any normal human environment that should go without saying, but the Democrats have a dearth of normal human beings in positions of power.
abortion is not safe. Women are still being killed, maimed, raped, and contract diseases from unsterile equipment.
Abortionists are bottom of the barrel losers who couldn’t cut it in the world of real medicine.
The real dirty world of everyday life in abortion clinics is covered in this excellent book...
