Pulling the Curtain on Palin
WashingtonPost.com ^ | Tuesday, September 9, 2008 | By E. J. Dionne Jr.

John McCain's campaign acknowledged this weekend that Sarah Palin is unprepared to be vice president or president of the United States.

Of course, McCain's people said no such thing. But their actions told you all you needed to know.

McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden all subjected themselves to tough questioning on the regular Sunday news programs. Palin was the only no-show. And it's not just the Sunday interviews. She has not opened herself to any serious questioning since McCain picked her to be next in line for the presidency.

As for my running mate, you can be certain that wherever he goes, and whoever is listening, John McCain is the same man. I’m not a member of the permanent political establishment.< br> And I’ve learned quickly, these past few days, that if you’re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.

But here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country. Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reasons, and not just to mingle with the right people.

Seems like Obama didn't do so hot, E.J. - two signficant gaffes. Maybe he needs to take a break and bone up with his handlers.

E.J, Sarah has given ABC an exclusive, no holds barred interview! And the Sunday morning MSM roundtable - NO ONE WATCHES THEM! Get a grip - you MSMers are so overrated in your own eyes. The American people DESPISE you!

poor media, Palin is not at their beckon call.

To think they spent all their time in the last few months digging dirt on Romney, Huckabee, and others only to have all their work blown away as Palin is the person who is running with McCain

the media are acting like little children who doesn’t want to share a toy

What a load of horse manure.. I read that Biden waited at least 12 business days after being nominated before his first appearance on a TV News Show, Palin, only 8. (numbers may be wrong, but that was the basic jist.)

Palin was all over the place Sunday, speaking to tens of thousands of people. The media is very egotistical in thinking she must speak to them to be vetted.

So in E.J.'s world, the primary role of the President is to go on Sunday talk shows. And he's lecturing US about Palin's readiness?

She’s brushing up on national and international issues. At the moment, she is FAR more valuable on the campaign trail, drawing large crowds and raising $$$.

Oh, never mind, I saw this was the Washington Compost.. the paper that has pushed out half the smears on Palin with no fact checking.. they’ve already embarrassed themselves by showing they don’t vet their own stories.

Dear Mr. E. J. Dionne Jr.,

Sarah is out getting to know the people of America and busy reading up on how to “field dress” a jackass!

Regards,

They are seething that Palin has yet to pay homage and profess fealty to the elite media.

My vote: Let them eat static.

Since I refuse to watch Obambi on ANYTHING — let’s review the tough questions he should have been asked:

1. Why do you adamantly refuse to release your birth certificate?
2. Why have you not authorized the release of the Annenburg records?
3. Why have you not repudiated the actions of your friend and political ally William Ayers?
4. Why did you vote “Present” more than 100 times in your tenure as a State Senator?

Hardball my rosey Irish bum.

Why do some liberals in the MSM keep pushing this story that McCain did not go through a thorough vetting process with Sarah Palin? Isn’t talk of the vetting of veep candidates “inside the Beltway” stuff that average voters don’t care about? Do these journalists from inside the Beltway really think that on election day, some voters will have doubts about the McCain/Palin ticket because the vetting wasn’t done the way the liberals would have wanted it done????????

Well, let’s keep in mind Sarah and McCain have to be on the same page when it comes to foreign policy matters, John McCain’s record and statements are looong and it will take time to learn it all.

And let’s be blunt Dionne is one of those DC Insider Types who hates Christians and does a great Barney Frank imitation...

"tough questioning"

LOL

Let me set the questions for Zer0bama, I'll show you tough questioning.

we'll start with 0be outlining the top 10 changes he's effected during his legislative time (1. Voted present >100 times. 2. ....., etc)

Is 0be familiar with the sound of crickets chirping (would make a great ad)?

EJ’s panties are bunched, Big Time. This talking point will be moot within the week. McCain’s camp is playing the presstitutes like a fiddle—generate criticism and press and let the interest build. Then, unleash Sarah in Alaska. A Schmidt Storm is brewing. Oh, and ABC can’t refu$e the rating$ opportunity for obviou$ rea$on$ with $uch an exclu$ive..
