Obama took four questions from reporters in Riverside, OH, where he dismissed the recent shift to McCain in public polling.
The polls "swing wildly" and have over the course of his long campaign, he said. "One of the benefits of having run a 19-month race is that we have been through all kinds of twists and turns," he said.
Though polls do show women, in particular, moving to McCain, Obama suggested that Governor Sarah Palin's appeal is actually to the conservative GOP base.
"Theres no doubt that the Republicans are excited, particularly the right wing of the Republican Party, are excited about Governor Palin's choice. I think that has less to do with gender than with her ideological predispositions, which are closely in line with theirs," he said.
At some point someone should note to Obama that McCain has ALSO been in the race for 19 months.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Such a keen intellect!
Where on the other hand, Obama’s appeal is to the extreme, left-wing moonbats, Iran, Libya and Al Qaeda.
Even Obama can’t get that one wrong.
For reals... is Obama running against John or Sarah?
Amazing insight. That should put to rest the idea that Obama is a dim bulb. He is a brainiac.
Good idea. How about on Nov. 5th? (Why spoil the surprise?)
All I have to say, Hussein, is “Better right than wrong.”
“One of the benefits of having run a 19-month race is that we have been through all kinds of twists and turns,” he said. “as well as getting paid for a job that I have never had to show up for”
I was watching some talking heads last night, and one addressed Obama’s directing fire at Palin - she repeated a maxim from Nixon that you never talk downward. Obama and his campaign are showing a serious lack of preparation for a horse race to the finish. The irony is, they are simply repeating Hillary’s mistake. She thought she had the nomination wrapped up and did not prepare for the possibility that she would have to fight for it. Obama thought that once he won the nomination, it would be a cakewalk to November, and now that he in turn is in a fight, it is clear that he and his campaign were not prepared for this possibility. Too. Dang. Funny.
Hey Hussein, tell that to the 25% of Hillary supporters that are voting for your opponent in November.
Wow, talk about your Captain obvious. She is so popular because she is a real conservative. Yet, she also resonates with many on the left also, especially the ones who are waking up by actually seeing the bias of the MSM for the first time.
The Dem strategy is evolving. They are not going to surrender.
They will push her so far to the right that independent moderates will not be able to stomach what the strategy will define as extremism.
She needs to spend time talking about education and health care. Their strategy needs to be undercut.
(Palin also appeals to men, women, rural voters, urban voters who don't want socialism, and lots of other folks. But he did good on the right-wing part, so we're leave it at that)
Well, considering Obama’s voting record in the Senate, you have to remember that for him, “right wing” begins with Bernie Sanders and includes such folks even further to the right as Kennedy, Biden, Patty Murray, and Barbara Boxer.
It’s all relative.
He is now running against Sarah - which is an extremely foolish move on the part of his campaign managers.
As I said on another thread: You know the race is over when the Presidential candidate on one side begins focusing on the Vice-Presidential candidate on the other side.
New poll: 25% of Hillary voters will vote for McCain
