I suppose that depends in some measure how effectively the various people on the train would be able to deal with the situation. If someone had a defensive firearm, it would probably be better for all concerned if people not try to rush the assailant, since the more innocents near the assailant the harder it would be to stop the assailant without hitting an innocent.
