Can Obama Win Back Wal-Mart Moms?

The women that pollsters are watching most closely this year are different in some ways from their "soccer mom" and "security mom" sisters of those earlier election cycles. For one thing, they are slightly older than soccer moms (in their 40s and 50s) and are juggling another set of problems how to pay for college for their kids, and how to take care of their elderly parents. They are also less upscale. Lacking college degrees, they are more likely to be feeling the brunt of an array of economic problems that now includes high energy prices, rising unemployment, soaring health-care costs and housing foreclosures.
Democratic pollster Celinda Lake calls them "Wal-Mart moms, or Wal-Mart grandmas" and says they are not so much undecided as conflicted in making their choice this year. Geoff Garin, a Democratic pollster who served as chief strategist of Hillary Clinton's campaign in its final days, agrees. "Frankly, it's because they are conflicted on Obama," he says. "They'd like to vote for a Democrat, but they're not sure Obama is the one."

But just in case they don't, Obama has become increasingly aggressive in challenging the GOP ticket's efforts to co-opt his mantra of change. "You can't just re-create yourself," the Democratic nominee said Monday. "You can't just reinvent yourself. The American people aren't stupid." But if he is going to win over the Wal-Mart moms, Obama is also going to have to make a stronger case for himself.

The sinking Obama titanic.
...I think after the 'Lipstick' slam on Palin - NOT.
The Obama soufflé is collapsing. I do not think it will not rise again.
“We have a Blue Light Special in the Lipstick Department...”
LMAO
Biden really needs to dump Obama before it’s too late.
Calling a woman a pig in my opinion pretty decimates the woman’s vote for him with the exception of not so bright ladies (that can’t quite figure out that is what Obama was doing), and the lib, libs that live to support killing babies at all costs.
You know what always bugs me, when the Dems get behind in the election, the usual suspects in the media write articles giving advice, they need to do this, they need to do that. Its like strategy sessions play out in the open. When the Republicans are behind, its just gleefulness, of course.
Dont be so sure...Obama and more importantly his handlers are not to be underestimated at what they will do.
We need to keep at him to make sure his souffle collapses and gets thrown away.
If you don't, who will? Ask and accept all the help you can, but it is still up to you.
Let’s not forget the stinking fish comment regarding McCain. Obama is not very politically savvy, nor is he a kind person. In fact he is quite hateful, vile, and not qualified to be president. His true colors are coming out.
I don’t think that having fashion experts discuss the finer points of the emperor’s new clothing is going to help much now that so many people have realized that he has none.
For the liberal elite, middle American is ignorant and uncivilized. The liberal elite only socialize with themselves so they have no real contact with the rest of America and assume the masses are just like them.
A rude awakening is coming their way.
McCain deserves a lot of credit for this. He found a strong VP candidate that drove the liberal elite over the edge in plain view. Now every shot they take just takes another piece out of them and they have no understanding as to why...
Fine metaphor! A souffle is little more than hot air...just like Osamabama.
Sur, sure. Obama can keep the Wal Mart moms. Just keep referring to Palin as lipstick on a pig and see how many Wal Mart moms vote for him.
**”Wal-Mart moms, or Wal-Mart grandmas**
And we are voting McCain-Palin!
Oh good! I need more for signs.
they need to dump themselves. one National Review commentator was so sure that the superdelegates would say no to both Hillary and Obama and just go with Al Gore as a unity candidate. But I think that would just make it worse.
