Some fear Obama's more aggressive tone could enhance her appeal among white, blue-collar voters.
The emergence of Sarah Palin as a political force in the presidential race has left many top Democrats fretting that, just two weeks after their convention ended on an emotional high, Barack Obama's campaign has suddenly lost its stride.
Obama has responded aggressively this week to Palin's presence on the Republican ticket, using TV ads and campaign rallies to attack her contention that she is a political reformer who will take on the Washington establishment -- a role Obama has long claimed as his alone.
But some Democrats are now worried about the perils of Obama's strategy, saying that his campaign, instead of engaging the Alaska governor, should avoid any move that draws more attention to her and could enhance her appeal among the white, blue-collar voters who remain cool to Obama's candidacy.
A series of new polls suggests that Palin has given a major boost to John McCain's campaign, exciting the GOP base, winning over white women and all but erasing Obama's lead.
Concern among Democrats was high enough Tuesday that Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.)...felt it necessary to cite historical polling data at a lunch of Democratic senators to convince them that post-convention "bounces" ...have often faded in past elections.

I think you’re right on that one. Obama limped across the finish line with Hillary nipping at his heals. I think once people got to see and hear Palin and McCain, they found a reason to move away from undecided to McCain, and think most will stay there. Why?
Because Obama is played out, and every compliment in the world has been used to describe the new “messiah” in the media. If people aren’t sold on him by now, then I’m not sure there is much left Obama can say to convince them.
The convention allowed people to hear McCain’s message and story, and along with the electrifying Palin pick, it really moved people firmly to McCain’s side.
I know some state polls are too close for comfort, but I think we will pull it out in the end.
Heh... Bounce, oh yeah! That only just begins to describe their problems. Bring in an honest politician that actually believes in helping people...well, just watch them melt in the next two months. They can NOT compete with integrity and it will show sooner than later.

The whole world knows Obama is going to lose this election. You cannot win the undecideds in a close election for president by calling a female opponent a pig in lipstick.
This is not the tone of someone of presidential stature. He has been exposed as nothing but an unprincipled jackass who folds under pressure.
Obama uses the royal “we” but it insinuates “me” or “I”

After McCain/Palin are sworn in and Obama goes back to being a nobody Senator his fellow RATS will turn on him big time. Count on it.
The stature thing is going to hurt him big time. Being “presidential” is important, Dukakis’s helmet in a tank basically ended his campaign because no one could picture him as the president after that.
