Barack Obama stuck his foot in his mouth yesterday when he said "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig"- which the angry McCain campaign immediately denounced as an out-of-bounds attack on running mate Sarah Palin. Obama delivered the line while campaigning in Lebanon, Va., tearing into his rivals for not representing real change. "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said, "but it's still a pig." This is key. Even if he started the phrase by accident, once they started cheering halfway through, he knew how it was being interpreted by the crowd. There’s zero innocence after that point.
And that bit about wrapping old fish up in newspaper and it’s still a smelly fish. Oh yeah, I remember that old proverb. Oh, wait, I don’t.
I thought we were not going to make fun of Rudy anymore after he gave that speech endorsing Gov Palin?
Mr. Obama will find that this “lipstick on a pig” remark is the GOP/disaffected women Democrat equivalent to a racial epithet. If he isn’t doing it already, he will rue the day he made it, and when the pollsters start the autoposy of his loss on November 5, it will trace back to this.

I’m surprised they left out the second half about the Stinky fish... People have said he was referring to McCain, but to tell you the honest truth it wasn’t THAT obvious to me at least. The result - women hearing BOTH “jokes” will be (rightfully) mortified at this “jab”.
Regardless, I think Obama may have stepped (WAY) too far over the line, and except for those liberals who already have a raging case of PJS (Palin Jealousy Syndrome) this is NOT going to go over well, at all...

Regardless of Obama's intent, the audience in very large numbers took his comment to be referring to Palin.
Every person who is going to hear that comment is going to make their own judgement. It was the audiences response that is going to sway people on this one.
