Barack Obama is on his feet in Norfolk, Virginia, in a very lawyerly manner, condemning the wickedness of the Republicans and the news media for misconstruing his comments about putting lipstick on a pig.
He is bemoaning this phony outrage at his comments and the wilful manner in which his enemies assumed that he was referring to Sarah Palin.
And, as ever with the former academic, he has a point, perhaps even a good one. No, he did not call Mrs Palin a pig, but in using such an explosive term just days after the Governor of Alaska definitively claimed all identification with lipstick for her own, it was a profoundly stupid thing to say, and in his analytical manner he must know it.
Yes, this is exactly the kind of sensationalism and subversion of the issues that many elsewhere in the world despise about American politics. But if Mr Obama wants to run for president of the European Union, he should move to Brussels, or Paris or Berlin, where he got his best reception of the campaign so far.
If he wants to be president of the United States, he needs to play by the rules of the American political bear pit. Its no use complaining that the rules are bunk, that politics needs to change. In order to change it you need to get elected and that wont happen if there are too many more of these verbal mistakes from Obama.
For a man who presides himself on the precision of his words, he has been markedly careless about using them. Remember Bittergate? Remember my Muslim faith.
One was a revealing phrase about Middle America uttered behind closed doors in the liberal heartland of San Francisco, the other was a slip of the tongue. Both were cause for

The Telegraph seems to have turned on Obama.
There’s a lot of truth in this. The other thing I’m noticing is that Sarah’s foreign press is the best I’ve seen since JFK.

typical... he brings the bad joke up, then cries for his mommy when he is called on it..
me thinks he doth protest to much..
The comments were all negative also.
Story after story from the UK.
We don't cover British election in the way they cover ours.
They should be reporting on the muslim take-over of their once great country.
The Democrats know that they can’t win over ever voter.
This is why sometimes they seek to turn off voters at least to voting Republican, if not voting altogether.
Moby trolled the internet 4 years ago with the intent of disuading Republicans from voting for Bush in 2004. His target was conservative forums and from the article about it, he didn’t seem concerned if the talking points he said were TRUE or not.
Also, in 2004 MTV-Viacom and other outlets spread the LIE that Bush was going to “bring back the draft” (4 years later, Bush still has not made such a move). The ONLY House and Senate bills to bring back the draft were sponsored by Democrats. They even threw a fit when they were brought to a vote (after the election). I heard a woman express to a friend of hers (in public) that her daughter had given up on both parties in 2004 when she was told that Republicans were bringing back the draft and then told that Democrats were spreading a lie; rather than investigate the matter she decided that neither party could be trusted.
The Left is not for counting every vote. They actively seek to supress some voter interest.
McCain and Palin don’t believe for a second that Obama intended to smear Palin. They both know that Obama is falling apart under the pressure they have put on him and this is just another ratcheting up of that pressure. Obama, and his running mate, are gaffe machines and they are cranking them out at a record pace. Obama can’t take the pressure and it shows. McCain is merely highlighting Obama’s glass jaw to the people.
Whether Obama meant it or not is irrelevant at this point; his poor reaction to his stupid comment is the real issue. He can’t take criticism and his incessant whining about it only makes things work. His political instincts are 180 degrees off. Obama is a rank amateur and McCain/Palin is eating his lunch.
We should. Give the Labor party something to do.
Q: What do radical feminists, radical Islamists, Black panthers, anti-war radicals, and Barack Obama have in common?
A: They are all comfortable portraying humans as pigs.

It doesn’t matter whether he meant it or not, it’s what the public preception is. I showed my mom the video the morning of what he said, and her face got red and she stated, “I’m pissed”.
Good point.
Can you imagine the hue and cry in the Drive-by Media if John McCain had uttered something like “interesting that Obama attacks Sarah Palin’s qualifications. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.”
