Palin welcomed to Alaska after whirlwind 2 weeks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — Gov. Sarah Palin arrived home to a chanting, cheering crowd, a blur of smiling supporters eager to embrace her after a whirlwind of national scrutiny since she was named Republican presidential nominee John McCain's running mate.

"It's been an amazing couple of weeks," Palin told the crowd of more than 2,000 gathered inside an airport hanger. They chanted, "Sarah, Sarah," waved signs that said, "Palin Is great."

Palin offered the crowd much of the same campaign speech she's given since McCain named her to the GOP ticket on Aug. 29, including her reference to listing the state plane for sale on eBay after she became governor.

"I say that hopefully not sounding hypocritical as I walk off that," she said, pointing to the McCain campaign jet she now uses.

She received the loudest bursts of applause when promising to push for drilling in this oil-rich state.

I watched the entire speech. She never mentioned ebay. This time she said simply that she sold the jet. And much of the speech had new material.

The Democrats/media seem so angry about Sarah Palin. What the heck is their problem?

They're angry because she's one of those rare people who is genuinely happy and has a natural connection with people. They hate her for what they can't find in themselves and they know their candidate is a cold fish.

She is SO good at this speaking thing...the best I’ve ever seen...She’s so natural. It’s astounding. Yes, some of the speech was the same stuff as the convention speech, but when she says it, it’s like the first time! Compare they way she speaks to Hillary..it’s like night and day...it shows how hard it is to be real on the big stage. You either have it, or you don’t!

I think the Dems are basically angry at Bush, angry at Republicans, and angry at the world because they lost the last two pres. elections.

They would have been pissed off at anybody McCain asked to be his running mate. But I think with Sarah, they are mad because she’s a woman, and that makes people think what if Obama had chosen Hillary. Also, Sarah was not on anyone’s short list of Veep candidates, so the Democrat opposition research dudes didn’t have a playbook written to go up against her on the campaign trail. They had a playbook for Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, and even Joe Lieberman. But nobody ever guessed Sarah would be the candidate. And they are especially pissed off at how Sarah has electrified the conservative base of Republicans and is connecting with middle America.

Also. forgot to mention, the MSM has been saying for the last two years that 2008 would be a Democrat year, so the Dems. have had that entitlement mentality that Hillary had about getting the nomination for pres, that all they had to do was show up with a candidate, and a Democrat would be back in the White House.

I liked the eBay comment. And while not the whole story, she DID put it on eBay - and makes it a much better speech line.

“I say that hopefully not sounding hypocritical as I walk off that,”

She gets it. I thought that too reading the FR posts on the new paint job. Of course having a plane to travel around most of the 57 states for her campaign is necessary. Having a jet that can land at only a few airports in Alaska - not so much.

“What the heck is their problem?”

The HEART of the visceral hatred for Sarah Palin by the liberals is this: She has C*R*U*S*H*E*D one of the main pillars of liberal orthodoxy, which is ‘Women can only achieve greatness through liberalism.’ She has rendered 40 years of ultra-liberal, feminists dogma as irrelevant. It is killing the liberals and they are lashing out in any way posible to tear down Sarah Palin.

She needs to come up with new things to say. Her speeches so far have been good, but it’s already getting stale. People will lose interest if she acts like a standard politician and keeps giving the same speech. A stem winder of a speech can only wind up a crowd just so many times. Just changing the order of the same old comments won’t keep the people tuned in. Surely she has much more to say...If she doesn’t, she’s not who we think she is. And if it’s the speech writers that are trying to “keep her on message”...She needs to be deciding what they are writing for her, not them telling her what she can and can’t say, without her understanding and agreeing as to why. I can listen to canned speeches all day long if I wanted to...but who wants to?

Well, to put it crudely, Obama is getting bitch slapped by a woman.

Good lord, how many times do we have to explain: it is called a STUMP SPEECH. Just because you follow her speeches at every new location does not mean 99% of the general public does. They don’t. Many of them are hearing these lines for the very first time.

The good folks of Alaska will not take kindly to the slimey media or the low life lawyer investigators sent in to destroy Palin and her entire family.

Lots of Alaskan FReepers will keep us well informed to their antics.

The media is going to say it is the same speech even if it is not.
