Palin's Entry Gives GOP Ticket Shot at Capturing the Youth Vote
Wall Street Journal ^ | Sept. 11, 2008 | STEPHANIE SIMON

With colleges back in session and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on board as the Republican vice presidential nominee, social conservatives are intensifying efforts to woo young voters, a demographic they once all but conceded to the Democrats.

Just two weeks ago, the mood on campus "was definitely, 'Obama is the cool place to be,'" said Jennifer Kacerosky, 21, a senior at the University of Florida. This past weekend, though, she went to a football game sporting a McCain-Palin button, and "it was, 'Where'd you get that? I need that!"

I hope Obama's family does not have a history of heart attacks.

I am glad to hear this. Hope her words get to their heads. Her fiscal conservatism combined with smaller government and solid Judeo Christian values is a beacon of great light going forward in this country.

Perhaps Sarah, Todd, Bryan Clay (the decathlon athlete who won gold in both Athens and Beijing and spoke at the RNC), Angie Hammond and her husband, and some other people can campaign in areas with many students...

The can also make an ad highlighting the fact that 0bama is not an extraordinary politician who would transcend racial, political, and ideological barriers. The only extraordinary thing about 0bama is that he changes position fast and often.

Awwwwwwww, I had faith in our young people all along. Nice to see confirmation that it may not be entirely misplaced.

Obama is gender challenged as well. Back when he called that reporter, "sweetie," I just about died. If he was a Republican he would have been fried up and served on a platter by the MSM, Democratic party, and the feminazis. As a woman I KNOW this jarred a lot of the women on the left and they stomached it.

Then his disrespect of Hillary passing her up with 18 million votes to Biden's 3? Then he used the pig statement combined with lipstick. Say what you will but just by using those two in a sentence in which a woman is included (no matter what the intended meaning) is a no-no if one knows a woman. Ask any married man. Any word even coming close to the word fat, chubby whatever is sensored quickly in many a married man's vocabulary. As Jennifer Aniston said about Brad Pitt, "He lacks a sensitivity chip." At his best! Obama lacks a sensitivity chip when it comes to woman--whether this lack of sensitivity is Obama's nature or perogative, the issue is he is trying to lasso the woman's vote and is failing utterly.

Compared to John McCain's actions and Sarah Palin's gonads :-), Obama is shining as the misogynist he is. The lefty gals just do not want to admit it yet as their precious abortion rights are more important than their self respect.

It is so easy to be led astray if not given attractive and viable alternatives. Sarah is just the example, role model, and intelligent conservative politician these guys needed.

Yes there is! My own college student daughters, ages 18 and 20, are voting for McCain/Palin!

My favorite quote on this subject is from Dick Morris: “We have a name for politicians who try to rely on the youth vote... Losers.”

What normal college age woman would not like to emulate Sarah Palin? All that success, all that prestige, and a nice family to boot?

I recall being in college in the late ‘70s. I was a conservative Republican, supported Reagan in 1980. Most of my friends supported Carter and were libs. They all believed that if Reagan were elected, they’d be drafted immediately and off to war in a year.

Only one of them wound up serving in the armed forces. All of them launched very successful and financially rewarding careers...during the Reagan revolution. Many of them voted for Reagan in 1984, once they’d gotten out of college and away from the kegs and bongs long enough to realize what the world was really all about.

Most college students live in this nice touchy-feely cocoon where life is a harmless little game of whiffle ball. Idiots.
