STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Swedish broadcaster SVT on Thursday released a previously unseen film clip purportedly showing the release of presidential candidate John McCain to the U.S. military in Hanoi in 1973.
A former SVT reporter, Erik Eriksson, said he found the video in the network's archives when he was looking for footage for a book he was writing about his experiences as a war correspondent in Vietnam.

I know I have become hardened and cynical now, because I am sure that over at DU, there are posts saying “you can see he is hardly limping” and “look how healthy he looks” and crap like that. Seeing that footage must be such an emotional experience for Senator McCain and his family.

I know I (and many of us) previously have not been on McCain’s side, but I have learned alot more about this man during the past few weeks, that I can honestly say that I made a mistake in not voting for him sooner. I dare say, that had McCain been in office in 2001, we would have charted the same course (as with Bush) and achieved ultimately victory BUT without the horrendous miscalculations of the past 4 years!
Who does he look like? Is it Robert Redford? Some movie star anyway.
Winning a war is about breaking the will of your enemy. The will of Obama and other Liberals is always broken if it's put up against a foreign foe even before the fight is joined. They've a strong will for power, but are otherwise seriously lacking in any backbone.

I’m thinking that I may have voted for the wrong person in the primary.. McCain is not perfect, but he is what he is.. That is what I like about him..

i was wondering (have to be cynical of msm and libs now) why they came forward?
one of my guesses was that they would say he was “hardly limping” and when he was using crutches when he returned to the us, it was for show.
my answer to that is, the vietcong didn’t give them crutches and also being a proud, honorable soldier, he would do his best not to let the vietcong think that they had beaten him.
this would feed right into the “randi rhodes” and daily kooks theories that he wasn’t really tortured, he made 35 propaganda videos for the viet cong , they called him “prince”, yada yada
i’ll bet these lib pansies wouldn’t last more than 1 minute of torture before they caved. actually they wouldn’t have to be tortured. they would give up the USA in a heartbeat; for free.

Do they know anything about the US system or the politics? Not a thing they don't copy from ABC, CBS, CNN, NYT, WaPo, LAT etc, etc.

That too.. However, I when it came to Illinois in 2000 it was over.. Nothing against Bush, however, I think that McCain is more a budget hawk than Bush and I think he can be more aggressive when it comes to wars.

His limp is very obvious. But Randi Rhoades said he was “well treated” by the NVA? Air America wouldn’t lie, would they?
I find it interesting that the video of McCain giving the speech in the field in Pa. that follows the clip of his release in Vietnam is 2:25 seconds and includes his reference to the Gospel of John, “No greater love...” is taken from Fox News, whereas the separate video that you can click on below that one is from CNN and cuts off just after a verbal stumble and before that reference. Hmmmm....
I agree with that statement. The Senator McCain I am seeing today is the one I liked in the 90's when he was the Maverick.

I totally agree. I think McCain compromises but he doesn’t kiss @$$ like Bush does. But I will have to say one thing for Bush he has been unwavering in the WOT.
