Figure in Rosenberg Case Admits Spying for Soviets
New York Times ^ | 11 Sep 2008 | Sam Roberts

Posted on 09/11/2008 3:45:45 PM PDT by RKV

Ever since he was tried and convicted with Julius and Ethel Rosenberg on espionage charges in 1951, Morton Sobell has maintained his innocence.

A U.S. Marshal escorted Morton Sobell, left, to Federal Court in New York in March of 1951.

Until now. In an interview on Thursday, Mr. Sobell, who served nearly 19 years in Alcatraz and other federal prisons, admitted for the first time that he had been a Soviet spy. And he implicated his fellow defendant, Julius Rosenberg, in a conspiracy that delivered to the Soviets vital classified military information and what the American government claimed was the secret to the atomic bomb.

“Before my time, but I believe that all right-thinking people believed the Rosenbergs innocent back then. I wonder what other beliefs, widely shared among right-thinking people today, will turn out to be similarly wrong in 50 years?”

No worries. The left will still proclaim the innocence of the Rosenbergs no matter how much evidence and testimony outlines their guilt.

At the time, most people thought they were guilty; although they did, and still do, have a vocal cheerleading section on the left. I think the ABA did a mock re-trial and they were aquitted.

The NYT has probably spent the last 60 years defending the Rosenbergs. Most leftists do. I hope that is the top part of a blue jumpsuit, and that this guy is still in prison.

It must suck even more than usual to be a leftist these days, with all of the “say it ain’t so, Joe” moments that are being dished up for them, huh...

First, Alger Hiss.

Then, Sacco and Vanzetti.

Now, Martin Sobell and the Rosenbergs.

The hits on the left just keep on coming.

Will Algore be unmasked as a doofus next...???

And when will the New York Times admit the truth about their coverup of Stalin's Ukraine famine?

Ukraine Famine - 1932-1933 - 7,000,000 Deaths

Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union, set in motion events designed to cause a famine in the Ukraine to destroy the people there seeking independence from his rule. As a result, an estimated 7,000,000 persons perished in this farming area, known as the breadbasket of Europe, with the people deprived of the food they had grown with their own hands.

And the c********r at the NYT has the nerve to put our faces in this pile of d*****t today of all days. I’d very much like to remove the smile from the face of that traitor, and his willing enablers in the M$M.

Nice to see one of the guilty confirm the truth.
That plenty of liberals deny to this day.

This is almost as pleasant a suprise as to hear even PBS admit
that yes, McCarthy was right...there were a sh-t-load of Soviet
spies and sympathizers in the US government (even if he may have
not done a good job on "target identification").
That was nicely documented in NOVA's "Secrets, Lies and Atomic Spies"
that came out at least six-seven years ago.

My late father was in the marine corps honor guard that carried Joe McCarthy’s casket. He was a marine recruiter in Northeastern Wisconsin.

At the funeral, Mrs. McCarthy came to him and said, “Sergeant, these people from the press are saying they are going to spit on his casket.” Dad said, “Ma’am, I will draw my sword if any of them try.” God rest you, Dad.
