The Sarah Surge is the second "Surge" that John McCain has correctly conceived of. This latest "Surge" is pure genius.The last two weeks have shown that, much of America has not been waiting for the Obamamessiah.
Rather, "The One" God fearing Americans who actually believe in AMERICA have been waiting for is Sarah! The Sarah Surge is real and durable because she is real and durable.
The mainstream media, the Sally Quinns, the Roger Eberts, the MoDos, the Joy Behars and the Oprah are apoplectic.
Sarah has gotten where she is without having hitched her wagon to an "Alpha Male" to get his name for her political expediency.
In fact the opposite seems to be true. What ever their arrangement is, it is clear the Palins have a fully functioning family, warts and all.
They wonder if the woman from Alaska has time for a job, whose only Constitutional functions are casting a tie breaking vote in the U.S. Senate* and receiving the Elector's Ballots once every four year and announcing the election results..
Nineteen tie breaking votes have been cast by the Vice President in the last twenty-five years.
Think she can care for Trig and her younger children in her spare time?
This question has never been contemplated for Liberal women, working in any field, requiring far more separation from children and home.
They have sent a team of lawyers, private investigators to dig for dirt, any dirt; real, imagined or contrived.
Sarah not only "talks the talk and walks the walk", she does so cheerfully, in a dress.
She has demonstrated by her grace, toughness and commitment that NOW is an acronym for the National Organization of Whiners.
Sarah IS playing in Peoria. All too well.
Sarah has committed the unpardonable Reagan-esque sin of being able to out flank the Media's filter and communicate directly with the American people.
She was correct in her acceptance speech, she is not going to Washington to please or appease them and they know it.
Here are a few excerpts from a press release, for her first major interview since accepting the Vice Presidential nomination, with ABC's Charles Gibson:
Palin sat down with Gibson on a day that was filled with wrenching memories and solemn ceremonies for the nearly 3,000 people who died in the 9/11 attacks seven years ago.
It was also the day that Palin, the mother of five, attended a deployment ceremony for her oldest son, Track, an Army infantryman whose Stryker unit is being shipped off to Iraq later this month.
Palin defended a previous statement in which she reportedly characterized the war in Iraq as a "task from God".
Gibson quoted her as saying: "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God."
But Palin said she was referencing a famous quote by Abraham Lincoln.
"I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words. But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side."
When asked if she believed she was "sending [her] son on a task that is from God," Palin said: "I don't know if the task is from God, Charlie. What I know is that my son has made a decision. I am so proud of his independent and strong decision he has made, what he decided to do and serving for the right reasons and serving something greater than himself and not choosing a real easy path where he could be more comfortable and certainly safer."
She is, in short, a naturally gifted if almost accidental national politician. Not exactly what the Founders had in mind, but close enough for government work.
