There’s really isn’t enough detailed information to know for sure. And these averages could still include some senatorial offices back in their home states, in towns where the cost of living would be less.

I read it years ago and probably have a musty old paperback in a box somewhere. It would probably be good to read it again after observing humans and politics for more years since the first reading.

My point from the beginning is that we should expect that members of a senator’s staff should be people of above average ability and experience, who could command above average compensation.

I see this right after I read that my state’s governor is going to Ohio and Pennsylvania too campaign for him. My governor is Clinton in a dress.

Seriously, a lot of congressional staffers are fresh out of college interns or campaign staffers. They're not getting the higher salaries. Nor should they.
The Democrats think you need a law to make that happen.
