WITH all due deference to lipstick, lets advance the story. A week ago the question was: Is Sarah Palin qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency? The question today: What kind of president would Sarah Palin be?
Its an urgent matter, because if weve learned anything from the G.O.P. convention and its aftermath, its that the 2008 edition of John McCain is too weak to serve as Americas chief executive. This unmentionable truth, more than race, is now the real elephant in the room of this election.
No longer able to remember his principles any better than he can distinguish between Sunnis and Shia, McCain stands revealed as a guy who can be easily rolled by anyone who sells him a plan for victory, whether in Iraq or in Michigan. A McCain victory on Election Day will usher in a Palin presidency, with McCain serving as a transitional front man, an even weaker Bush to her Cheney.
The ambitious Palin and the ruthless forces she represents know it, too. You can almost see them smacking their lips in anticipation, whether theyre wearing lipstick or not.
-snip-
McCains conspicuous subservience to his younger running mates hard-right ideology and his dependence on her electioneering energy raise the question of who has the power in this relationship and who is in charge. A strong and independent woman or the older ward who would be bobbing in a golf cart without her? The more voters see that McCain will be the figurehead for a Palin presidency, the more they are likely to demand stepped-up vetting of the rigidly scripted heir apparent.

Another deranged left wing homosexual. Embarrassing to witness.
Well, actually I'd say that two-bit hack New York Times columnists know that best. Rich is trying it here. It's sort of amusing, really - just as Bush is simultaneously Machiavellian clever and too stupid to tie his own shoes, Sarah is simultaneously unqualified to be a VP but thoroughly qualified to be a Richelieu or a Bismark. Quite an accomplishment, actually. Words have no meaning to these idiots.
LOL, that’s gonna leave a scar!
The leftist clowns love making puppets and paper mache heads. It’s probably Soros’ money that keeps the puppet makers in business.
I sure hope so.
Drilling isnt going to lower gas prices or speed energy independence.
Dope.
Panic must have really set in over at the “Slimes”. They aren't even ATTEMPTING to print anything resembling the truth! By the way, was this in the editorial section or was it in the hard news section? The Slimes is famous for printing this drivel in the hard news section.
Have they chosen to print anything revealing the TRUTH regarding Sen. McCain's non-use of email? I thought not.
I first thought this was an Onion-esque parody.
The Times has got to be kidding. From ignorant, fundamentalist rube to cunning wielder of power behind the scenes in a week?
Frank Rich reason #109 to not read the NYSlimes.
Frankie has sand in his vagina.
So Sarah Palin went from uneducated hillbilly hockey mom to “ambitious and ruthless” mastermind.
Would the left make up its mind, next they are going to claim she’s an alien from Mars.
Remember you read it first in The National Enquirer The New York Times!!!
