Don't Blame Oprah (Minor Barf, Whitewash) (Sarah Palin)
Creators Syndicate (Creators.com) ^ | Sept, 15, 2008 | Susan Estrich

Poor Oprah. Of course, Oprah is not poor by anyone's definition (we should all be so poor), but she found herself between a rock and a hard place on the question of whether to invite the newest, and right now probably the biggest, celebrity in the world on her show.

Of course, the ratings would be huge. And when someone in the entertainment business decides NOT to do something that would garner unbelievable ratings and attention, that decision is always subject to scrutiny.

Having endorsed Obama, and having taken heat for it, Oprah has since tried to keep her personal politics separate from her show's agenda.......

Susan (please, no pictures) Estwrech tries to give racist bigot and sexist shill Ophra Winfrey cover in this whitewash of her personal promotional campaign of ZerObama using her media power and ability to lock out Sarah Palin.

With Ophra in the tank for Obambi, it's a wonder there's any room for anybody else in there.

When Oprah came out with her bias and made her show a political shill for Obama I said I was done with her. So did my wife and so did several of her friends.

For Oprah, this is a true dilemma: two choices, both bad. However, one choice is likely “less bad” in her eyes than the other and I think we'll see Oprah avoid having Palin on her show.

Palin doesn't need to sit and talk with this very rich but dysfunctional television personality. O is the Pied Piper of the women who can't think for themselves set.

The awesome thing is this is a dilemma of her making.
By endorsing The One, she left herself wide open for this.

By all means, one is free to express their personal viewpoint in this country, even as a celebrity.

But it can be VERY bad for business.

I think this is very unfair for Oprah. She had Obama on her show before he announced. Later she said she wouldn't have anyone on her show who was running for office. She never had Obama on her show again. She's just sticking to the rules she laid our for herself.

She never had a discussion about having Palin on her show because Palin is running for office and she's not having anyone on her show running for office. This is a non-story and a bit mean when context isn't given.

I said I was done with her. So did my wife and so did several of her friends.

You won't be alone.

I suspect that Ophra got to where she is, in her TV show and related magazine, by voluntary personal affirmative action by white women. She has been presented with the opportunity to validate that faith placed in her, and has FAILED miserably to show that she MERITED her position.

I do not believe that this disastrous failure of merit will go unnoticed.

Susan Estrich attempted to cover by charging that conservative/Christian monitors would never be fair with Ophra for a straight up tough interview.

HORSE MANURE, they are the only ones that would and have treated Ophra with fairness and respect, the left always projects.

Ophra has kissed that respect goodbye by listening to "feminists" like Estrich.

I don’t want Sarah to go on Oprah’s show. It’s idiotic and silly. The people she has on are just as stupid as she is. Making money does not make one smart.

I’m certainly no Oprah fan and I think she’s a bigot, endorsing only a single candidate (ever) for ONE reason - his race.

That said, I agree with you.
She’s not using her show as an Obama platform (wisely) and she’s sticking to her plan.

I actually believe this was psy-ops. It was a very smart move by McCain/Palin to say Oprah won’t have Sarah on. Oprah loses either way. If she has Palin on she will hurt Obama. If she doesn’t have Palin on she will hurt Obama. Nice.

I have never seen the Oprah show so don’t have much of an idea what goes on there. I will vote for McCain and Palin whether Sarah ever goes on the show. If I were Sarah I would not got on the the show because she doesn’t need Oprah and her crowd.

Ophra volunteered herself into the mainstream of American culture, society, and political discussion for profit (money).

She doesn't get to set ANY rules, only the Constitution does.

She's either a racist bigot and a sexist, or she's not, politically or otherwise.

The ONLY way she can not be a bigot and sexist is to take Palin on in a straight up tough interview NOW. She would rather only be a little bit pregnant.

Oprah loses either way.

Yep.

Additionally, Sarah succeeds everywhere by merit not feminism, O by affirmative action. O should be sitting at Palin's feet with a notebook and pencil.

Good luck with that. Her personal and show's agenda are the same. We now have a clearer picture, that's all.

Correct, with two small caveats: 1 We don't want to say this out loud, and 2 There are some honest women that watch O, and they will finally vote McCain because of the real qualified woman he picked. No need to insult them.
