BREAKING NEWS: Obama Allegedly Undermined U.S. Foreign Policy in Iraq

Stick a fork in Obama: he's done

The following is in today's New York Post,. The bottom line is that Barack Obama allegedly attempted to undermine official U.S. policy in Iraq, an action that could have endangered thousands of lives as well as regional peace and security, for his own political benefit. We encourage our readers to circulate this story as widely as possible, because it alone should mean the end of Obama's candidacy.

OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL by Amir Taheri

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

...Obama has given Iraqis the impression that he doesn't want Iraq to appear anything like a success, let alone a victory, for America. The reason? He fears that the perception of US victory there might revive the Bush Doctrine of "pre-emptive" war - that is, removing a threat before it strikes at America.

We must now ask whether Obama is merely wishing for our country's foreign policy to fail in Iraq, or whether he is working actively to cause it to fail.

We are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice but, were the latter (unauthorized negotiation with a foreign government to undermine the foreign policy of the United States) to be proven, we refer our readers to the following element of U.S. Code Title 18. [Logan Act?]

    U.S. Code Title 18

§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply, himself or his agent, to any foreign government or the agents thereof for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

It won't cost Obama many votes if it stays here at Free Republic, but it will cost him the election if we take it to our Web sites, blogs, letters to the editor, and talk radio.

The big question, is there proof? Our Government probably knows!

Allegations of spying by U.S. rattle Iraq

Anyone know how to use the Freedom of Information Act?

He is denying it. This will go nowhere unless there is some audio or transcript info.

We must now ask whether Obama is merely wishing for our country's foreign policy to fail in Iraq, or whether he is working actively to cause it to fail.

It's not just Obambi, it's the entire DNC, and its media propaganda wing, trying to make the U.S. fail.

This article falls under the “Important If True” heading. It needs some better sourcing.

If it’s true, it should be very damaging to Obama with some independent voters.

The Logan Act won’t come into play.

The rest of the media will ignore this unless John McCain makes an ad about it.
This is the kind of thing that can put an early end to 0bama.
Not because he tried to undermine US policy and possibly broke the law, but because he broke faith with his supporters, telling them he wants to get troops out ASAP while secretly trying to negotiate with Iraq to keep them there longer.

John McCain must make this ad.

Agreed, confirmation is key.

This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Amir Taheri should be interviewed in PRIME TIME on the networks to research this charge.

If, in fact, it is true--it is so outrageous, so disgusting, so shameful, so traitorous (not mentioning the hypocrisy),,,,

that if Hussein had an ounce of decency in himself,,,,

he would voluntarily remove himself as a candidate.

You're likely right. And given that the MSM isn't inclined to pursue this story, anyway, it looks like it will end up going nowhere.

you would THINK someone recorded the conversation(s). If Obama comes out and says Tamiri(sp) is a liar then, hopefully, that forces the powers within Iraq to cough up proof and bury this guy once and for all.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July. ... "He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Delivered under oath in a court of law is direct evidence. For the most part, evidence doesn't get any better than that. The transcript itself is sufficient to rebut an Obama denail under oath.

Nothing new here. Obama and the rest of the pro-terrorists “leaders” have been undermining the military for the last 1/2 dozen years.

If I had to pick one of them to believe, I pick Zebari.

What reason would he have to lie about something like that?

I mean, what would Zebari have to gain?

Now Obama bin Biden has EVERYTHING to lose if this is true so I would expect his unholyness to lie about it.
