CBS Columnist: 'Sarah Palin Phenomenon Is Doomed'
newsbusters.org ^ | September 15, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

The CBS MarketWatch columnist, Jon Friedman, has posted a column that appears to have been composed in an alternate universe in an entirely different space/time continuum than ours. It is a universe in which the media somehow built up Sarah Palin and in which the public will also become bored with her. Does this sound like our own universe? Of course not. In our universe, the real one, the media has been tearing down Sarah Palin from day one.

Not likely, but the Barack Hussein Obama phenomenon the MSM helped create is doomed.

49 days and counting.

Methinks this fellow Friedman, is talking about Obama. Folks are already getting bored with him, and maybe Jon Friedman, too.

Should it be “Is the Obama phenomenon doomed”?

It is doomed unless there is a domestic policy shakeup that takes account of her narrative strengths... they need to pivot on health care which takes into account exercise and recreation... “teddy roosevelt get off your arse and take care of yourself plan”....

I agree with the columnist. The public probably will be bored by the time her presidency ends in Jan. 2021...

Sarah was in Colorado today. People were calling in to KOA radio and when asked what they thought about Palin, the answers seem to center around:

“She is not from Washington. She’s real. She has run small businesses. She’s a mom with a job. She understands what people’s lives are really like.”

In other words, she’s like most of us.

Just wait until the debates. B.O.’s numbers will sink faster than the Titanic hitting an iceberg. The empty suit cannot give a straight answer and w/o a teleprompter is totally lost.

Studebaker stopped making cars in 1965 - they just could not compete in the marketplace anymore.

CBS will stop broadcasting before Sarah Palin exits the public stage. They cannot compete in the news marketplace anymore.

Is Studebaker completely out of business? No, the remnants of the company now manufacture STP.

I'm sure CBS will still manufacture something like ‘Gay Sex Lube’ or communist comics - items MUCH less useful than STP but right up CBS's sphincter, if you know what I mean.

The writer hopes that Palin will fade. But she must know, hope is not a strategy.

Should it be “Is the Obama phenomenon doomed”?

No doubt the adoring media who couldn't show&tell enough about Barack Hussein Whatisname also contributed to his over-exposure, and flagging interest among the public.

Ironically, their truculent and spiteful reluctance to give airtime to Sarah will have the opposite effect, of leaving the public wanting more. She ought to peak in about...oh...six or seven weeks.

Fine work, P.J. And nice touch about finding out that the guy had predicted that YouTube was a fad that would die. I don't suppose this guy will get a front-row invitation to the Palin inauguration, now will he?
