Obama refuses to help campaign or fund downticket Senate Races. Dems not happy!
Politico ^

Posted on 09/16/2008 8:53:53 AM PDT by sunmars

Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a personal appeal to Barack Obama: Help me grow the Democrats’ Senate majority by sharing some of the $77 million you’ve got in the bank.

Obama’s campaign said no. Obama says he hasnt the money.

Obama refusing to help Democratic Party, he's cash poor.

In rejecting a direct request from his Senate leader, Obama has put a fine point on the financial pressures he’s feeling as the presidential race turns toward the fall.

Obama raised a record-setting $66 million in August, leaving his campaign with about $77 million in cash now. Because he has turned down public financing, he can keep raising money through Election Day. John McCain, having accepted public financing, can’t do that — but he already has the $84 million in public money in his campaign coffers.

More importantly, McCain will get substantial help from the Republican National Committee — which has dramatically outraised its Democratic counterpart — and the Republican Party’s state and local committees.

Reid and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Charles Schumer had hoped at one point to get as much as $10 million from the Obama campaign. With 23 GOP seats up for grabs this year — versus only a dozen Democratic seats — Senate Democrats see a once-in-a-generation opportunity to pad their majority with as many as four to seven new seats.

Cue the infighting. Obama promised all these guys money to help them win and he’s now thrown them under the bus now he has the nomination over Hillary. Don’t say you were not warmed Dems, Obama cannot be trusted.

"... Obama’s campaign said no. Obama says he hasn't the money."

I can almost hear Obama saying "I hasn't the money."

"Yes, you hath!"

"Nay, I hath not! Now begone!", he dismissed the knaves with a stamp of his mighty foot.

The Democrats are not going to get four to seven Senate seats. Obama is political poison to the downticket not to mention that he can't raise cash and campaign for them. Congressional Democrats have racked up record low approval ratings.

This shows the self-centeredness and shortsightedness of Obama. Instead of campaigning, Obama needs to fundraise. Sure, Obama will probably raise more money than the $84 million, but Obama will drain all the money out of big money Democrats so there will not be any money left for the DNC. McCain will get the $84 million, plus some money from the RNC. Just like the Biden picked illustrated character flaws with Obama, so does this.

It seems odd to me that Obama and his campaign could be lying about the amount of money they are actually taking in.

It's one thing to say I raised a record 66 million but I wonder how many come through with the actual money.

Until recently, Bill Clinton was the biggest disaster to ever hit the Democrat Party.

Barack Obama is going to have them wishing for the Good Old Days of the ‘92 Midterm Election.

The Democrats have gone from a 15% lead in the generic congressional ballot question to neck-and-neck. This is nearly impossible to do, but Barack Obama has managed to do it. He will spend every dime and shred of goodwill in an effort to get elected, and he will lose.

It is wonderful, ins’t it?

He doesn’t have the money, McCain will have the dollar advantage of 2 to 1 in the last month of the campaign, because Fauxbama and his gigantic intellect turned down public funds.

Well, his funders are mostly liberal radicals, and this means he can’t moderate his message or risk losing his money.

He’s painted himself into a corner in many ways by completely incompetent management of his campaign, across the board. For such a “thinker” as his proponents like to claim, he’s made every bad conclusion out of all that thinking through this campaign. He should not be ANYWHERE near the white house.. this guy is incompetent.

He is running scared (that voters will figure him out before its too late and he'll lose)or he's greedy (he's the top and all are supposed to support him ... not visa versa). Take your choice.

Not when McCain’s raised just as much AND has matching public funds... McCain’s going to have a 2 to 1 dollar advantage over Fauxbama in the last month of the campaign, if not more.

Fauxbama didn’t think through his campaign (big suprise) he can’t moderate his message to get elected or his fund raising dries up, and most of his funds are coming from the leftists. So he’s stuck there, he can’t moderate.

He’s spent over 300 Million on his campaign so far, building up the cult of personality empty suit that was his campaign to watch it be popped by an “old worn out geiser” and a “hockey mom” from Wasilla Alaska overnight... God, I do love America.

This debate coming up is do or die for Fauxbama, if he doesn’t change the momentum soon, its over, by the next debate it will be too late.

This guy can’t deliver a stump speech to a rodeo crowd without a teleprompter, I am going to enjoy watching him umm and err... and vasilate and nuance his way through the debates.

When Obama said he going back on his pledge to take federal matching funds but McCain stood by his pledge, I was worried. Now, in retrospect, it is turning into a disaster for the Big 0 and the Dems. Obama sucks up all the cash and Dem senate candidates can't raise money, yet now even Obama’s fundraising machine isn't able to keep up with McCain and his federal money. Karma.
