Massachusetts Women Sound Off on Palin
ABC ^ | 9/16/2008 | KATE SNOW, KATE BARRETT and SUSAN KRISKEY

It's happening at kitchen tables and office water coolers, over e-mail and at friends' birthday parties: People nationwide are reeling from two head-spinning weeks that have reinvigorated John McCain's campaign for the presidency with the selection of vice presidential pick Sarah Palin.

"I did want to learn a lot more about her because of that acceptance speech," said Democrat Tina Hamilton, of Acton, Mass. "And I was wowed. I absolutely was wowed."

Still, Hamilton is one of many people taking a closer look now that "the dust has settled a little bit for me," and she is reminding herself that she does not agree with Palin's politics.

Hamilton was also one of a group of seven women, from diverse backgrounds, that ABC News invited to the small town of Stockbridge, Mass., to discuss the governor, her interview with ABC News and her impact on the race. Thousands of miles from Palin's hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, they formed an informal, if unscientific, focus group. (snip)

The panel also largely agreed that Palin handled herself well last week when asked by ABC News' Charles Gibson about the balance between her life as a mother and her life in office.

(snip)

By all accounts, the panel members, Democrats included, were satisfied with Palin's response, though they all felt the question was a sexist one that would never be asked of a male candidate. Still, they also agreed that it was OK to bring it up, since everyone in their neighborhoods and their groups of friends has been discussing it.

Telling response. McCain needs to get Palin out and about more...she is a magnet for him.

Interesting reactions in a Democratic state like Massachusetts. A lot of women who would never pull the lever for a GOP ticket are taking a liking to Sarah. I have a feeling it may get to be a lot closer in the Bay State than the polls show.

“Hamilton was also one of a group of seven women, from diverse backgrounds, that ABC News invited to the small town of Stockbridge, Mass., to discuss the governor....”

“Diverse backgrounds...” OK, how much you want to bet you got the following: 33 year old liberal democrat housewife, 48 year old liberal democrat insurance adjuster, 21 year old liberal democrat student, 57 year old liberal democrat early retiree, 41 year old liberal democrat government worker....

Yep, I’m sure ABC invited a very diverse group there.

Its a liberal state. I was remarking on the reactions. It not a good sign for Obama when Democratic women in a small town in Massachusetts react positively to Sarah!

I’d get her up to NH and wouldn’t waste a nickel campaigning in Mass.

Massachusetts is close to the New Hampshire media market. Obama has good reason to be worried about his eroding standing in Blue States, a development that's being reflected in state by state polls.

That's not how I read this article. The article sounds to me like it's meant to do two things: 1. Validate that the ABC interview was all fair, and 2. Show us that the initial "wow" factor is supposedly wearing off.

No joke.

Any state that can send Ted Kennedy -— a parody of a liberal, corrupt, politician, complete with being a drunken buffoon who literally left a woman to drown in order to cover up adultery —— is beyond salvage.

I don't know about the "wow" factor. What we do know is the MSM and the Democrats are obsessed with her like they've never been obsessed with a vice presidential candidate. In contrast, no one cares about poor ol' Joe Biden!

Correct. This was a focus to see if a couple weeks of MSM lies and slander against Palin has worked.

The libs are scared. And now the MSM is scared. They can no longer attack Sarah Palin; they are sending (liberal) wimmen to do their work.

Tsk tsk.

2 out of 9 RINO-types
1 out of 9 unaffiliated
6 out of 9 democrat

kind of typical for Massachussetts.

So when does ABC go to Utah to seek the opinion of their women voters?

Still, they also agreed that it was OK to bring it up

I see Massachusetts women realizing what they could have accomplished with their lives if they had not bought into the victimhood status the Democrats are selling.

Ladies, it is not too late to redeem your failed marriages, careers, and families by joining the Massachusetts women were not that easily misled.

I’m sure that all of them have voted for fat Ted, John the Traitor and all of the sleazy Democrats that Mass has put into office.
