Gianna Jessen is the powerfully eloquent survivor of abortion who recently appeared in the ad above challenging Barack Obamas opposition as state senator to the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act. I hear from a source that WKYC-TV in Cleveland has confirmed Obama is running an ad responding to the BornAliveTruth.org ad featuring Jessen.

Obamas campaign told the Associated Press they would only be running low-profile radio ads and campaign mailings. They deliberately misled the media to portray a false sense of low-key campaigning. The fact is this issue is a problem for Obama, his record is clear and Gianna Jessen is a living manifestation of the fact that many babies do survive abortions and need medical protection and care. Obama voted against such protection and care four times in the Illinois State Senate while the U.S. Senate passed an identical bill 98-0. The Obama response ad is scheduled to run on WKYC-TV at the following times today, and is probably running in other markets in Ohio:

It is despicable, repulsive and beneath contempt that Barack Obama would attack Gianna Jessen. She is a courageous abortion survivor and living miracle who would not be with us today if Obamas policies had been in place when she was born. Mr. Obama continues to mislead the American peopleon this issue, he voted four times against medical care and protection for babies who survive abortions in the Illinois State Senate, while the U.S. Senate was voting 98-0 to pass an identical bill. All I asked of him was to do the right thing: support medical care and protection for babies who survive abortion as I did 31 years ago. He voted against such protection and care four times even though the U.S. Senate voted 98-0 in favor of a bill identical to the one Obama opposed. In the words of his own false and misleading ad, his position is downright vile. Mr. Obama said at the recent Saddleback Forum that the question of when babies should get human rights was above his pay grade. Such vacillation and cowardice would have left me to die if his policies were in place when I was born. Thank God they were not.

I guess Obama’s response depends on what the definition of “infant” is... he says he supports medical care for “infants”, but it’s above his pay grade to determine exactly at what point that “tissue-stuff” becomes an actual human, and therefore an “infant”.
dang, that woman has more class in her hair, than Obama has in his entire campaign.
I guess we know one of the reasons that Nobama has opted to not have any “town hall meetings” during this election season. Maybe he’s afraid of taking a question from this kind of abortion survivor.
BTW, does anyone else notice that Obama has refused to go on any of the business channel stations this week? Do you think he appreciates that he doesn’t have a clue about what has brought on this situation and knows that he couldn’t possibly answer a tough question, even though he knows all the mainstreams of in his camp?

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

So how many womens lives have been saved by abortion?
Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be due to a risk to maternal health. A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But lets say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.
Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

Obama's problem with this issue is his own extremism. He voted against the state versions of legislation that was so moderate, so basic common-sense that even Barbara Boxer could see its rationale when she voted for the federal version of it. Obama is trying to re-frame the debate as not being about medical attention for abortion survivors but as a debate about pro-life vs. "pro-choice". He has to change the subject because his position is so repellent, so overtly and coldly infanticidal that he loses even a lot of the left on this issue.

While legal abortions result in the death of the mother about nearly 5% of cases, abortion results in the death of an infant in nearly 100% of cases.
We have murdered an entire generation of Americans, nearly 50 million, since the inception of Roe v Wade. The death of the mother whether through legal or illegal abortion, however, has not gone down.
So called legal abortion is statistically no safer than illegal (extra medical) abortion. Legal abortion has created a culture of death in which unwanted babies are slaughtered by the tens of millions.

Make a TV ad with THAT!
I would like to know where you got those statistics so I could use them in my post. I did a lot of searching and enlisted a number of our most Pro-Life FReepers in order to get numbers on that and none of us could find them. Our conclusion was that records are not kept, much less published, on death of the mother due to abortion. Of course a certain percentage of women die in child birth even without abortion so the statistic would have to exclude those numbers.
The death of the mother whether through legal or illegal abortion, however, has not gone down. So called legal abortion is statistically no safer than illegal (extra medical) abortion.
Unless the chart in my post is incorrect that is obviously not true. Source please.

The authors note (a) that death by older, uneducated black woman is double the average of white women, and (b) that 23% of deaths resulted from undelivered pregnancies. The report furthur states that unreported death is at least double the gathered figures. By running these numbers it is fair to assume that for every 1,000 so called undelivered babies there are at least 100 deaths among the poorest of the poor and blackest of the black.
c0 ii reports that no numbers were available for death by abortion, making extrapolation necessary.
Md reports that their stats are slightly higher than national figures, owing, probably, to the higher incidence of black women receiving abortions. This is consistent with Planned Parenthood’s extraordinary efforts among the black population of inner cities and especially Baltimore. Their commitment to their founder’s (Margaret Sanger) goal of eradicating the black population is born out statistically.
