Despite an unprecedented ramped-up faith outreach campaign in the last few years that many see as unprecedented for Democrats, Barack Obama has so far made few inroads with one of the main groups the Democratic Party has been hoping to budge -- white evangelical Protestants -- according to a poll released today.
The poll was done by the University of Akron, which has been tracking the presidential preferences of voters by faith for the last five presidential elections. It was conducted between June and August of 2008 and involved a random sample of 4,017 adult Americans. Overall, it showed Obama leading McCain, 42 to 37 percent.
It found that the party preferences of white evangelical voters are almost exactly the same in 2008 as they were at the same point in the Bush-Kerry race in 2004, said John Green, the political scientist who conducted the poll.
However, the poll found movement toward the Democratic presidential candidate since 2004 among traditional Catholics, Latinos and the religiously unaffiliated.

Well, you can put lipstick on a pig...
Don't count on it. Since this poll was taken before Senator McCain tapped Governor Palin I'd say the numbers are much worse than the first estimate.
Obama is not trustworthy. Why would we vote for him?
Thank god for the Evangelical Christians....I only see them as standing up to the Muslims in the future...
The religiously unschooled left sees dedicated Christians as hypocrites, so I guess we’re real good at recognizing the Democrat religious fakery.
Heard that here at Univ of Colo @ CO Spgs among female students switching from O to Mc....
any man who adocates killing infants in the womb, and also killing them just after birth is not a Christian. Any man who advocates teaching 5 year olds all about sex and tolerance for homosexual activity aimed at children is not a Christian (millstone around the neck time).
Thus, by his own actions in the Illinois Legislature, Barack is not a Christian. And any evengelical christian who would vote for Barack is voting for the works of Satan.
Actually, I need to apologize to Barack for calling him a muslim. His legislative record identifies him instead as a worshipper of the pagan god Baal, whose followers performed infant sacrifices.
Well stated.
Infanticide will do that!
Obama’s problem is he comes across as a fake, Evangelicals are good at spotting them in people outside of our community, inside is a different matter.
The difference between 04 and this election is the outreach just isn’t there yet.
John McCain’s “POW Church Riot” is not widely known nor spoken about in public when it should be.
“Well, you can put lipstick on a pig...”
And after you put lipstick on it, then see if you can make it talk.
Cheers!

Evangelicals for Obama?

As a Roman Catholic, I must agree
Analysts have no idea why.
He's not THE AntiChrist, but his favorable position on the legalized killing of unborn AND newborn babies make him anti-Jesus Christ.
I'm not sure of all the details, but this is the story I read about his successful effort in the IL state Senate to defeat a bill that would have saved the lives of many newborn babies who are now dead thanks to his hard work to ensure that the law would not interfere with their murder. According to the story I read, Some Chicago hospitals place newborn babies with disabilities that the parents or parent don't want to deal with on shelves in storerooms and leave them there to die. When the IL legislature tried to pass a law prohibiting that inhuman practice Obama, who was an IL state Senator at the time, organized opposition to the bill and it was defeated.
I haven't seen anything about that alleged outrage except for the above story which I read, so even though I found it on a well respected website it may not be all true as I repeated it. If anyone has factual information about that story I would like to see it.
I think Reverend Wright's sermons were usually on the treatment of Afro Americans in the US before and even after desegregation and the various federal civil rights laws were enacted, and often on the evil, wicked deeds of DA JOOS. Therefore I doubt that Obama ever heard a sermon from Reverend Wright's pulpit based on the following bible passage:
Matt 18:5, And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
Mat 18:6 But whoso shall offend [snare, trap, cause to fall] one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
I don't know how good Obama is at swimming, but if what I read about his work in the IL Senate is true he had better start practicing dog paddling with a 200 lb rock tied to his neck.
