Starbucks stops serving milk as China crisis snowballs

Starbucks stopped serving drinks with milk in many Chinese outlets Friday as a crisis over poisoned dairy products that have left four babies dead and thousands of others sick spiralled.
The move by the US coffee chain came amid a government-ordered mass recall of dairy products after an industrial chemical, initially reported to be only in milk powder, was also detected in regular milk, yoghurt and ice cream.
Supermarket shelves across the country were emptied of many products made by Chinese dairy giants Mengniu, Yili and Guangming after the government said the chemical melamine had been discovered in some of their regular milk.
Singapore, meanwhile, said it was suspending the import and sale of all milk and milk products from China after melamine was detected, as the latest in a string of scandals to hit the "Made in China" label snowballed.

China seems to have a lot of trouble keeping its industrial chemicals separated from its food supplies.
True, industrial chemicals may often be less expensive...

Maybe in China, production of processed food is categorized under chemical industry.:-)

Considering the country in question, perhaps this is just part of their birth control policy?
The main thing, of course, is to make sure party members get safe milk. Have they taken care of that?

Right — when God invented coffee beans, they weren’t filled with milk. (or sugar)

Just have a cow in every Starbucks for self serve lattes. Remember to fire from a distance because the she’ll get very upset if you dip her teats in hot coffee. And warm your hands before getting the milk or you’re liable to get kicked.

Starbucks can run a petting zoo. Everybody can personally try to squeeze fresh milk out of a cow. Very educational.:-)

My daughter picked up some chocolate-covered coffee beans as Christmas snacks. While wrapping presents, I munched a handful or so.
Whooeee! What a buzz!!!
