Draw the line at pot. It is safer than alcohol. The other drugs really are bad.

The Taliban are making tons of money from growing opium, at artificially inflated prices. I'd like to cut off their money supply, and the most effective way to do it is to collapse their market price.

“meth or one of the other truly great drugs”

Judging from its ravages on our local tweakers, meth is truly one of the most destructive drugs in existence. You can spot those people a block away. Skinny, covered with sores, and hair falling out. If they smile, you may or may not discover teeth.

Hell, we knew back in the 60’s that “Speed Kills” and most people avoided it like the plague. Seems that bit of useful historic knowledge has been lost by the younger generation.

But the assumption that smoking a joint (no, I don’t indulge) leads to harder drugs is a tough one to prove.

What's the saying about if you don't know your history, you're doomed to repeat it? Anyone in this day and age who uses drugs should be available for experimentation by whatever research lab wants them.

Legalize and regulate it and let tax paying law abiding American citizens make all those billions and billions of dollars instead of the bad guys. Let the Mexican drug cartels kill each other fighting over what’s left of the illegal drug trade.
