I'll make this short. It has become obvious now that this financial crisis has threatened the financial well being of all Americans and it has national security ramifications. I am asking President Bush and members of Congress to appoint a Special Prosecutor in this matter. Let the chips fall where they may, and spare no effort to put those responsible behind bars for the rest of their lives.

Sure. Let’s throw away the election and spend another trillion on a special prosecutor. No thanks.

Well, that should only take about 10 years of investigations and witch hunts. Plus, the Treasury may actually end making money on the deal depending what they can collect on the acquired debt over the next 5-10 years. Then we will need to appoint a special host for an awards ceremony.

I strongly disagree with both of you. The magnitude of the criminality involved in this scandal, going back many years, is most deserving of severe civil and criminal assessments.

I have absolutely no confidence in a prosecutor bringing the errant parties to justice in this case. Ain't gonna happen.

Just like the guy that is at the head of the tax writing committee, Charlie "Park It Like Its Hot" Rangel. He'll never be brought to justice for tax evasion.

Washington is a cesspool and expecting one of their own to do a true investigation is a fool's errand.

"Let the chips fall where they may"

Chips don't fall where they may rather they are carefully placed where some choose.

A person would be a bigger fool not to at least ask.

Amen. But I’d hate to see it drag on for years. Looks to me like we should start with the obvious and allow the justice dept to investigate and prosecute. Start with the corrupt CEOs and CFOs. Fire the crooked, incompetent managers and boards. Immediately remove the obviously negligent overseers from their committees in the House and Senate. Reconstitute said committees with competent, reliable, honest members. Hmmmm.... well, different members anyway.

The president needs to be out front on this. He needs to aggressively investigate and prosecute. Unfortunately, it looks like Bush is wimping out. May need to get McCain in there and pray that he and Sarah are the pit bulls they claim they are. We need to give them Republican majorities in the congress to so they’ll have the power to get to the bottom of it and prosecute the guilty. Obviously we need to send them up there with a non-socialism mandate. This socialist crap must be ended!

It’s only our freedom we’re talking about.

I think McCain should call for one AND name names like he claims he will!

"Unfortunately, it looks like Bush is wimping out." Don't you feel that Bush has wimped out on several key issues, which is made even more disappointing because he had the perfect lame duck presidency in which to accomplish so much?

In case you have not figured it out, GOP defendants are convicted no matter the evidence by DC juries and Dims have no chance of being convicted by DC juries so prosecutors don’t bother. So what good does a special prosecutor do?

There is no need for a special prosecutor. THere is simply a need to prosecute, NOW, forcefully, the people in DC who live to use taxpayer monies for their own personal comforts and investments! Nothing special about it!

I agree that a Special Prosecutor ought to be appointed, one who would not be subject to oversight by Congress or President Obama (God forbid). For this post, I nominate Rudy Giuliani.

John McCain probably is less tarnished by this mess than the Bush Administration, Clintons, the Democratic congressional leadership, and Obama. He must seize the opportunity to name names.

No, we do not need special prosecutors. We need the people that are now in office to fulfill their duties. Some politically appointed/connected hack cannot be counted on to find the truth.

Government isn't known for handling things well.

Special prosecutors isn't one of their specialties.

Oh, yeah. And someone else already suggested that the $700 billion dollar bailout is approx the same number as the $700 billion dollars we send to the Arabs every year for oil. End the damn drilling ban and start drilling and building refineries immediately. Fire the damn socialist Democrats and get McCain in there with Republican majorities.

Burst the socialist dams on the free-economy and all boats will rise! We can recover from this financial setback and thrive without destroying our freedoms or bankrupting our taxpayers.

McCain-Palin want to drill, mine, refine, and generate domestic energy through commonsense, obvious and time-tested natural resources like oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear power and whatever it takes. Imagine that! We cannot afford for the America-hating Marxist Obama to take the presidency and we must end the socialist Democrat stranglehold on American resources and economic freedom!

Forget about all the “green” power nonsense. It’s all hot air and b/s (literally).

Fire the damned socialist Democrat congress and senate!! Send the corrupt America-hating Marxist Barak Hussein Obama back to from whence he came!!

I have supported a Special Prosecuter to investigate the Federal Gov...from top to bottom and report to the TAXPAYERS...not just all citizens!
