Old people, a group with which I am proud to belong, for the most part, are those who are disenchanted with the choices we’ve ended up with for President. They both belong to the Council on Foreign Relations. They are both far to the left of most of us doddering old fools who still get a tear on the cheek when the red, white and blue passes by.

If we are in any way political, we’ve been there and done that. We’ve learned by our mistakes, as well as those of the government. People have rolled their eyes at us when we’ve tried to warn them of dangerous trends and where they could lead, so we shake our heads and worry about what the future will hold for our children and grandchildren.

And now those things are coming at us fast and furiously. We try to offer an answer why, and we are called delusional by younger people of both parties. Well, maybe after 70 one should just stay off the Internet, keep out of the dialogue. If our experience and wisdom is only to be scoffed at, why throw pearls before swine?

It has been wisely said that if one doesn’t know the history, beware of the future. And unrevised history hasn’t been taught that in schools for a long time now.

Gotta say this while I’m thinking of it.

Regarding the DUmmy’s comment about getting the “youth” vote out. Not everyone should vote as soon as they are old enough to do so. It takes some time to mature as a voter. Not everyone gets there on that birthday that says you are old enough.

... (we’re all guilty of this one)

I'll do penance for my smugness later, but I'm gonna say it anyway.

We're all guilty of most of them at one time or another. The difference is, some repent daily (hourly?) and try to do better. Others just revel in their sinfulness.

Thanks for that.

The problem is that you have to be a certain age before you can appreciate the wisdom of your parents and grand-parents.

Honestly, I don’t think you can become an adult until you become a parent. When you realize that the world is bigger, MUCH bigger than yourself.

But spoiled adolescence is lasting longer and longer, and some people NEVER become adults.

That is a very true statement.

Old people missing all the unborn children and unborn grandchildren that have been put to death through abortion. Now, they are looking to the future and voting for a team that does not endorse the death of “future Americans”.

Just don’t forget that half of us aren’t old hippie radicals, otherwise, you probably wouldn’t be here to carry on.

wait until Obama puts out ads aimed at grandmas saying, “If McCain gets elected, if your granddaughter gets raped, she’ll have to have the rapist’s baby.”

It’s gonna happen in one form or another. They just dropped the level at the bottom of the barrel.

Of course, Obama won’t run his other ads when the elderly are still up, telling the younger crowd that he’ll be sponsoring govt-supported euthanasia as an option, so that old folks won’t be a burden on the restof us. Hell, if it’s like his view on taxes, old people will have a patriotic duty to off themselves.

The difference is that you probably won’t have to hire some snotty kid to take care of you when you need it. You’ll have your own kids and (grandkids) who’ll be happy to do it.

National debts are going to be passed on to their grandchildren.

And Obama is going to pay it off by giving away $850 BILLION to the UN and increasing government spending in every arena except the military?

They’re holding out for enforced, involuntary euthenasia to solve the Social Security problem...

Don't laugh, but I see euthanasia as the logical end result of nationalized health care (after all, such a high % of resources goes to the last months of life, etc, ad nauseum)

Older voters

They were the demographic that made it possible for Hitler to do so well in the 1932 election. Believed all his ranting about restoring the Germany of Bismarck."

And it was the younger voters who belonged to Hitler's SA.

Well I hope when you say “so far” you’re talking about grandkids, not kids! (Sorry, been a while since I’ve been in the diaper phase. I love kids, but can’t wait to hand my grand-kids back to my daughter while saying “uhm... think my grandchild needs changing!”)

I’m one of the old racists voting for McCain (while holding my nose).

Now if Alan Keyes was the candidate, I’d vote for a younger (than me) black man in a heartbeat.

Yeah...5 grandkids so far. But we are all pretty tight. (I’m hoping to be changing new diapers in the not-too-distant future as one of my daughters is praying that she is pregnant).
