It's Okay to be Gay in Wasilla

Posted on 09/23/2008 9:15:42 AM PDT by Tidbit

Contrary to what the MSM would have us believe, they aren't burning homosexuals at the stake in Wasilla. I know Advocate.com material can't be linked, but if you're interested, there's an article about the environment of tolerance in Wasilla.

It's called Gay in Wasilla-Views From The Last Frontier

Since her alleged homophobia is a stock anti-Palin talking point, I think this sort of article is relevant and helpful.

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Politics/Elections

OK, I can’t resist working Corky and the Juice Pigs into the discussion any longer.

With radical liberalism running rampant in America, it is difficult not to find “flamers” everywhere. Why should Alaska be any different...?? (well maybe different that San Freakcisco).

You can be gay in Wasilla and nobody would know or care..
As long as you kept it to yourself.. behind closed doors..
And didn't try fondling the locals children...
If you did, someone would send you to talk to Jesus..
They are armed to the teeth in Wasilla, Alaska..
But then, thats the way it it is ANYWHERE (in Alaska)...

Thank Goodness! (Real Player audio)

I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay. I sleep all night and I work all day.

(MOUNTIES:) He's a lumberjack, and he's okay. He sleeps all night and he works all day.

(BARBER:) I cut down trees. I eat my lunch. I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin' and have buttered scones for tea.

(MOUNTIES:) He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch. He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping and has buttered scones for tea.
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay. He sleeps all night and he works all day.

(BARBER:) I cut down trees. I skip and jump. I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing and hang around in bars.

(MOUNTIES:) He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps. He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing and hangs around in bars?!
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay. He sleeps all night and he works all day.

(BARBER:) I cut down trees. I wear high heels, Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie, Just like my dear Papa.

(MOUNTIES:) He cuts down trees. He wears high heels, suspendies, and a bra?!

[talking] What's this? Wants to be a girlie?! Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!...

[singing] He's a lumberjack, and he's okay. He sleeps all night and he works all day.
He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaay. He sleeps all night and he works all day.

Fwiw, Gov. Palin said in her interview with Charles Gibson that she “does not judge homosexuals.”

So, I don’t know where you got the homophobia label.

“Let the wheat grow with the tares until the end of time”, and it is Jesus who will divide them, and not us.

Amen! We had this scripture in the Catholic church a week or so ago.

I don't know where you got the homophobia label.

The label is most certainly not mine. But just because she says something in an interview doesn't mean people believe her. Two days ago I read a local business journal column wherein the author stated that he had doubts about voting for McCain because Palin is homophobic.

It's unlikely that a town with citizens as outwardly tolerant as was described in the article I mentioned would elect a homophobic mayor. You would think given the agenda of the web site in question that every effort would have been made to find "victims" of anti-gay sentiment blaming Palin for the environment of intolerance. The best way, imo, to refute an argument is to find folks who might have a vested interest in discrediting the candidate whose experience is to the contrary. But that's just me.

An EXCELLENT part of scripture to keep in mind in any discussion on homosexuality, or in any dealings with homosexuals themselves.

It is the Lord who will separate the Wheat from the Chaff, and it’s not something we really need to be overly concerned about - as long as these people are not doing anything that effects anyone else’s ability to live as THEY wish as well (and no SPECIAL rights for gays over others... Equality and “tolerance” doesn’t have to mean PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT!).

After all, homosexuality is a sin, just like any other. Judge not lest ye be judged, is another scripture that comes to mind. Also, the scripture about taking the log out of your own eye first... So many examples in the Bible for why it is WRONG to cast stones - just like Jesus saving the Prostitute. All, JMHO of course!
