Sarah Palin's U.N. meetings begin with media flap
LA Times ^ | 9/24/2008 | Maeve Reston

Plans by John McCain's presidential campaign to showcase running mate Sarah Palin's meetings with world leaders at the United Nations today got off to a rocky start.Reporters' access to Palin, who has yet to hold a news conference, has been limited by the campaign. But the protective blanket around the Alaska governor drew even tighter during a visit to New York to meet with foreign leaders and policy experts.

The campaign told print and wire service reporters that they would not have a representative in the pool of reporters accompanying Palin to her meetings with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger, a foreign policy advisor to McCain.

The pool of reporters, which was to include a television crew, was supposed to be in the room for a few moments -- just to capture the opening of Palin's meetings. But when the campaign announced that even the pool television producer -- who is charged with capturing editorial content for the five networks -- would not be permitted in the room, the networks threatened to pull their cameras from Palin's events today.

Eventually, the campaign relented and allowed a CNN producer into the room for the meetings. But there were no wire service reporters or print reporters present for the first meeting, with Karzai.

According to the pool report from the CNN producer allowed into Karzai's hotel suite, Palin was seated a few feet from Karzai; seated slightly behind her were foreign policy advisors Steve Biegun and Randy Scheunemann, who are accompanying the governor today.

I guess the MSM thinks Palin likes having her family and herself crapped on every time she breathes in or out. If you treat someone like dirt, expect to be treated in kind. Way to go McCain campaign. They don’t need the MSM’s cameras or their so called journalist either. They are doing just fine going around the media. Go McCain/Palin 2008.

Clearly the lowly McCain/Palin campaign does not realize WHO the MSM are! How dare Palins people suggest that she may have rights.

I guess the media will only allow “private” meetings if your name is Obama. On his world tour, Obama held many private meetings including one with England’s Brown and his now infamous meeting with the Iraqi government.
Oh shoot I guess they forgot.

I don’t see anything in the Latte Times article that discusses what she ever SAID, just what was discussed (small talk) at the meeting.

Half of the article is the media itself.

Attention MSM, your approval numbers are lower than Congress’ single digit approval.

The spoiled little media brats are just PO’d because they have to sit in the kitchen at the little kid table instead of crashing the adult table and ruining the holiday dinner with their immature behavior.

These MSM elites are so arrogant! If they would just do their damn job and leave their agenda out of it, I’m sure Governer Palin would be more than gracious about accomodating them. But they treat her and her family like dirt and then expect her to bow down and kiss their feet. They are so disgusting.

I thought the first rule of journalism was to not become the story.

Anyway, since y'all have so much free time, maybe you can investigate Obama's connections to Rezko and Ayers. Maybe you could discover the role that Democrat lawmakers have had in the recent banking crisis, or even the energy crisis. I'll await your findings with baited breath.

She should have called their bluff. At this point, they need her, more than she needs any of them.

So they treat her in ways that are so low and disgusting that they have regular Americans gasping in horror and they can’t believe she doesn’t invite them in for tea and crumpets.

We all know that all they want to do is savage this woman and it is wise for her to not allow them to turn these meetings into a circus.

Nothing but Leftist elitists and Commies in the media. There is no reason neither Palin nor McCain should have anything to do with them. They will just pervert any Republican’s message anyway. The only answer is to Shut them OUT!!!

Why should she hold a news conference? The MSM isn’t intersted in news, they are interested in a crucifixion through lies and distortions. We saw that with Obama’s Gofer Gibson, who still has not corrected himself.

Were reporters present with Obama when he made his “suggestions” about Iraq to Talabani and al Maliki?
